Evocities MTB Series Rnd 3 - Winter's Edge XC
First up, I have to say that racing at Bathurst was a different experience. There were actually spectators and even cowbells and horns.
Secondly, this is a pretty cool track. Fast and flowing. The venue also has a velodrome and apparently there are plans to build a BMX track too.
Ok, so the race. . .
My 2nd race at Wylde
I remember finishing my 4th lap and being stoked that I'd improved by one lap since my last race at Wylde. Then I realised the four hours wasn't up yet. . . So off I went out for my 5th lap
This race will probably be a sentimental favourite for me for a while.
Jumping into the deep end
So I've owned my bike for nearly a month and I'm enjoying it so much I decide I should give racing ago. So what do I do? I enter an endurance race, 4 hour Solo. My friends tell me I'm crazy, but my thinking was I don't have to ride it like a "race". I can stop between laps and rest if I want. Hell, I can just do one lap and I'm done, if need be.
My second club race
As far as series points for my grade (D) goes, today puts me in 8th.
So this was my second club meeting and I enjoyed it as it felt like I had improved since my last effort. Who knows; maybe next round I can break into the top ten?
Rock and Road Max Solo 2015
As this was an early start I'd written my self a list of stuff to pack and duly went about loading the ute, ticking items off as I went. I once got to a race and realised I'dforgotten my gloves and another time forgotten my Camelbak so now I have a list!
Quick breakfast and large travel mug of coffee and I'm off on the road. Just over 2 hours later I arrive at Rydal showground to be greeted with a 6.5 deg temp. Much more my prefered temperature compared to 30+!
My First 4hr Solo event
I knew before the race even started how slippery the track could get. I got caught out in the rain while warming up for the first attempt at Wylde for the Round 1 race. But I wanted to race it anyway to see everyone sliding around for my own personal lols
I had brought 2 bikes with me as I was still undecided which bike I wanted to do the race on. My old Giant Yukon Hardtail with rim brakes running a 96er set up (29er front wheel, 26 back wheel) and my 2011 Giant Trance with dual suspension and disc brakes.
BMORC 6 + 6 male 3's 4th place
Just a few quick points from the weekends race;
- Team BMORC re-grouped for the first time in 12 months, around the anniversary of one member nearly dying in a car accident.
- I got sick on the Thursday before the race and struggled all weekend but still managed some OK times. I popped a Sudafed each day so I guess I'm a drug cheat according to the new banned list.
- The solo 24 riders were sent off first which made our opening lap interesting to say the least - at least I got to chat to Gazza most of the way around.
