First club race all good fun, note to self Starts are important! Overall happy at first attempt think there may be a few guys in C grade who should be in B grade, judging from lap times!

Well I started in the second row behind Gaz and Pete as I haven't done any proper racing for quite a while and I thought if I could just keep there wheels for the first half lap that would be good. The start gun went the pack surged and immediately found myself in around 12 place with Gaz & Pete out of site this wasn't going to plan, over the next half a lap I managed to get past quite a few people and eventually caught a train of about 5 riders with Pete on the tail end but no Gaz.Sat on the back of the train and recovered for a little while then on the climbs Pete made an effort and overtook t

Great fun in C grade 3 laps was perfect and all I wanted to do after spending the previous week moving house and business.

Ok now back to some regular riding to climb up the rankings and maybe move up a grade later in the year.

WSMTB Summer Enduro Race 3

First foray in mountain bike racing/competition, happy to finish not knowing what to expect and stuck to my very conservative strategy to get me to the line. A good place to start.

after drinking rather a lot of beer on saturday i didn't know how i'd cope doing a xc race on sunday morning but i turned up anyway just to have a crack at it and if anything, it would be a good training ride.

Rode a 4Hr race at Yellowmundee on the weekend. I rode with my neice Fiona and nephew Aaron as a mixed threes team, 'the three stooges!'. It was an excellent day, perfect weather, well run event and great fun. Aaron was our first rider, but got caught in the traffic jam when it hit the single trail but put in a good lap time anway. I rode the next lap, just a short excursion over the handlebars on oneof the rocky downhills but no damage to me or the bike and still managed a good time. Fiona rode next, a little mechanical with her chain...amazingly she fixed it all by herself!

No plan to race very hard today just wanted to circulate at an easy pace and have a fun ride, which I generally did.

Started of nice and relaxed with very consistent lap times not pushing my limits at all and enjoying the ride. It was a great morning for it but it didn’t take long for the day to heat up which started to sap my energy levels and with no gels to stick in the tank it was going to be difficult to keep going.

Yelowmundee 4hr Enduro - WSMTB Summer Series

A perfect morning for an endurance race. Got up in the dark at 5:30 and set off by 6 for a 7am rego and 8am start.
The sun rose as a giant orange ball in the sky behind me as I drove out there, and there was mist on the paddocks giving it a crispy feeling. Perfect for riding! Met up with Gav, V and Onegear in the usual spot, and after the usual rush to get everything organised the race began.

I set out with a clear objective to do well, finish strongly and see how I'm measuring up in a solo 'race of truth'....

4 Hour Summer Enduro Series - 'Training Ride'

Decided on Saturday night to go out and do the 4 hour. There were a bunch of the gang going, so I thought it would be good to go out and get some 'corner carving' and 'race pace' training in ahead of the Jet Black 24 in Feb.

Seems like sleep was a problem all round on Saturday night, plenty of comments around the traps, and I was the same, got about 5 hrs in before a 5.30 wakeup to get out there and register. Not to worry - a seriously strong coffee and I was ready to go Cool

after a long break over the xmas period and well before that from mtb racing i was itching to get back and race on the dirt.
i've been doing a lot of road racing over the summer months ( two races a week for quite a while before xmas ) and it certainly paid off today.
i got a good start near the front and held my position without slowing any faster riders up. my plan was to go flat out from the start and just keep going as fast as my body would let me, if i slowed to a snails pace at the end then so be it. but it wasn't to be and i just seemed to keep motoring.
