We've been talking about another Pub get together at BMORC HQ (The Lapo)

Apologies, thinking of Next Friday or Saturday Night 29th and 30th.

Would be good to get the brains trust together ... maybe meet some new faces ... and maybe also discuss whats happening with the SCA stuff (Martin help me) ... ie, see where BMORC might fit in

http://bmorc.com/node/15918

Anyway ... the point of this thread is to develop a list of things to do, for Knapsack and Potentially BMORC in general.

eg,
KnapSack
- That grassy sniggle near Lovers walk needs a good raking
- where possible, mark out the preferred loop ... obviously excluding the "proposed" new sections
- finish flagging out the DH (both options)
- take pictures of all the unsustainable bits on the current trail (are any of you better at the picture taking then me ?? aka Full Auto Al ... I be sucking at taking pictures of teh ground)
- From the map with the numbered sections ... identify and (number ?? or categorise somehow) any unsustainable bits per section. (ie, basically get a list of unsustainable bits, see which ones are worse or quick kills ... and somehow get a list of priorities to work on ... next year Sad)

Other Things
- Penrith to Lithgow trail ??
- SCA stuff
- Yellomundee ??
- Flynny (feel free to add anything you think of we can help you with)

Note: As advised by Matt Chambers (BMCC Staff) ... we can't actually do any work at Knapsack, unless is officially organised by Staff ... Another aim of this list is to run it by Matt to see if there could be anything we could do now, before the Council Meeting (is the council meeting for the 23Nov10 ??)

Feel free to rubbish what I have or add other items etc etc.

Sounds good Al. I reckon getting as many people together to nut out what needs to happen would be very beneficial to the cause. As much as I read here, things tend to sink in better when they're spoken about...

Put it up in the calendar for maybe next Friday night at the Lapo.

Turns out I should be able to make it, as I'm not heading up to Port Stephens until Saturday lunchtime! I may be a little late, but I'll try to be there as close to on-time as possible.

Apologies for being slack ... especially given Trim and Mog spoon fed me with notes (Thanks Peter and Mark)

Firstly, Thanks to those that made it ... and apologies for those that attempted to attend only to find that they didn't recognise anybody, especially since we were hidden out the back. Apologies and hpefully I contacted all those that call me.

We aimed to do Knapsack, and then Next steps.

We started with next steps
- Martin provided some brief updates on efforts re SCA lands.
- The main outcome is for Martin to touch base with those leading the efforts to secure access to SCA lands and come back to BMORC with timeframes, and proposed actions that BMORC members could assist in and support.
- Action: Martin to get back

We stopped there with regards to next steps, as realistically there is much more to do with Knapsack
- Action: Park next steps until after Knapsack is approved

Knapsack
- Setting priorities. Discussion centred around what our priorities should be with regards to the trail works at knapsack.
- One frame of thought was for quick wins, to make the XC track as sustainable as possible, understanding the news sections and some of the more major construction efforts would come later. This also followed that the new DH alignment required substantial effort, given the new cuttings required.
- The counter point to this was that BMORC was formed on the back of the closure of OBR. There are no Legal Downhill tracks in the Blue Mountains, whilst there are at least several Legal XC track to chose from. Further, one of our stated aims is to attempt to reduce "unapproved trails" which are predominantly DH trails, and our only weapon against this is to focus rider/builder efforts on to the legitimate trail at Knapsack, so as to address both the lack of legal tracks and the need for builders to construct tracks (along with associated ownership benefits).
- Outcome: Those attending agreed to focus on developing the downhill track. The loss of the downhill in OBR precipitated action within BMORC and the XC track is existing with many alternate venues to chose from.

Council Meeting 2nd November
- Discussion was made with regards to CLR Greenhills motions to be raised at the 02Nov meeting. PK explained outcomes of past discussions to put into context the likely impact of the motions. In short Motions were as expected
- Action: PK to follow up with Mark Greenhill to determine if we need to turn up at this council meeting to support his two motions.
- Note: we will have somebody at the meeting to gauge reaction of council

Meeting 23rd November
MH to contact Matt Chambers regarding BMORC preparations for this meeting. We need to understand when their report will be released.
Review report on Knapsack DH track and XC track upgrades
Critical that we have a good turn out to this meeting as there will be a vote on the report
AD to contact Brendan Luchetti to provide update
PK to contact Clrs Greenhill, McCallum & Creed for same'
MH to contact Clr Mays for same
AD to send out email to registered members highlighting importance of the 23 Nov 10 meeting
Note: refer to Kingy's updates in BMORC news for outcomes of his meetings

Specific Trail works
- Include Glenbrook Historical Society in the signage for the area. Include areas of interest in current mapping efforts and future signage.
- Add contact info to reserve signage and active signage "eg: tour in progress in sections X to Z riders please approach with caution and give way to walkers"
- Attempt to see whether a more regular track care meeting can be held in the initial stages of redesign and construction (pending council approval).
- Attempt to determine whether all track care needs to be staff supported.
- Action: AD / MH to discuss with Staff.

BMORC general
Some discussion on sources of funding for track building etc. Possible sources include Ground Effect sponsorship funding, other BMORC fund raising efforts (eg Bunnings)

If I have missed anything please feel free to add and or correct my ramblings.

Al
