The Six Foot Track was originally constructed as a bridal way between Katoomba and Jenolan Caves. It is now possible to ride one section of the track, but not it's entirety. Please respect these rules, only ride where permitted and dismount where required. The most popular route appears to be the 28km (one way) section between Megalong Road and Jenolan Caves road.

Meeting Point:

Corner of the Six Foot Track and Megalong Road. Either drive here, or take the train to Blackheath and ride down Megalong Road to the start (15.5km from the train station).

Full Description:

Megalong Road to Jenolan Caves Road is around 28km (one way) so would make a pretty long out and back, or a nice one way ride if it's possible to arrange transport at ride's end.

A thread on this ride reads:

...don't even think about riding down the track from explorers tree...

... The track to the Cox's river (single track walkers, lift bike over fences via pedastals) cross river (do not use the suspension bridge!). Then climb (a biggy). You can stay on the 6ft track all the way up to Jenolan Caves road, (there are numerous forsestry roads in the area) then hit the tar...

So sounds straight forward.

From the West end of the track one can turn left (South) and head to Jenolan Caves. This is a nice tourist attraction in it's own right so there are cafes and accommodation for those who'd like to ride out from Blackheath one day, stay at the caves, and ride back the next.

For those interested in such an overnight trip, the East end of the track is 15.5km from Blackheath station and the West end is 13km from Jenolan Caves - so the route would be around 56km out and the same return the next day. A warning though: both these road sections (at either end of the track itself) are very steep!
