Just saw this on rotorfark
Thought the 50 might be a bit of fun, but I'm not sure
I know the area itself has some awesome scenery
But that doesn't mean the fire trails and double track running through it are

Anyone thinking of doing this one or have any knowledge of the route

BM Epic's picture

I have 4wdriven here, it will have some steep hills, lovely scenery, no single though, like a long woody worlds i would say.

moggio's picture

Could be a nice slog.. good scenery and vibe... I am actually more tempted to do this than be constantly overtaken by loads of lycra covered machines on some single track.

Ian_A's picture

Maybe we could organise a BMORC assult on this. It's a bit too far in advance for me to commit yet.

DigDig's picture

Something like this may be what I need to get me focused.I have raced the trails on motos yrs ago.

Chuck's picture

You'll have to join Vinno and I on Wednesday nights Wes.

moggio's picture

Yeah, true might be good as a BMORC entry.. heck I would need the team motivation to bother I reckon. Its only 50km too.

Nerf Herder's picture

Is $85 minus $25 Tee ... considered cheap to ride double track ... and from what I'm reading a slog -fest ... we all know how much I love hill climbing.

OT: good to see Anaconda as a spono.

Flynny's picture

Even better to see National parks are on board and promoting an event in their park.

Well done to the mountain sports guys and NP rangers

Also a week before our 8hr at Rydal so might be good to plan a double header in the area Shocked)

Rowan's picture

I've ridden at Kanangra twice. First time my mate lost his rear derailuer to a stick. Second time I lost mine.

BM Epic's picture

Definitely going to do this, not sure if 50 or 100, considering the 8 hour on the following weekend, although there is no single, who gives a rats arse??..should be fun, couple of good hard long climbs and wicked stupid crazy descents!
Anybody else doing it?

stephen's picture

I have entered the 100k. Always keen to ride something new, might as well do it twice on the one day..

The Brown Hornet's picture

Beth and I are doing the fiddy.

Chuck's picture

I'd be in it if it's a BMORC group ride/race, just not big on outright racing.

Andy Bloot's picture

I'll do the fiddy if there's a few takers
One lap will be enough for me
And I won't be wearing my race face (not sure if I have one)

BM Epic's picture

Probably the fiddly, 1 lap will be enough, 2 laps is not really appealing seeing as its a repeat???..But i'm definite!

hathill's picture

Yeah - I'm interested in the 1/2 100. Sounds interesting. Go team BMORC I say.

Flynny's picture
just not big on outright racing.

90% of people who show up to "races" like this are there for the ride and not into "outright racing"

Have a go you'll have fun:)

moggio's picture

Flynny, a little off topic but what is the "race" that is out west somewhere over two days if I remember correctly on back roads and trails. I think you go in it if I remember correctly.. it sounded fun, but that is all I rememebr about it.

Flynny's picture

Do you mean the capertee challenge. http://www.capertee-challenge.com/
Awesome part of the world. challenging trail. I haven't done it but those that done it last year said it was much better the the previous years so hopefully this year will be better again

J the B's picture

A good, old-fashioned, firetrail slog.

50km might be enough for me, I reckon.

The Brown Hornet's picture

Beth isn't sure if she will do it, so the world will have to wait for Team Frooga Loonga to be unleashed at a later date.

The KHS and I are still in.

Vinno's picture

I think I would be interested in this after doing the 50km at the Willo Enduro a few weeks back. I want to do a few events this year it had been 6 years since my last and doing one gets the motivation going.

Anyone for any of the 8 hours as a team by the way?

The Brown Hornet's picture

OK boners, has anyone rego'd yet?

BM Epic's picture

Not yet, but will be soon...btw, went out yesterday anyhow!!fun ride!

J the B's picture

Come on fellas, let's get a BMORC crew going.

I think the 100km is fully registered (I didn't get the option to register, but check yourself), and they have a quota of 50 spots for the 50km, so you'd best sign up now.

There are no team categories, but I'm all for doing the first 45km as a casual group, then going hell-for-leather for the last 5 kms, the winner gets a free round at the pub.

The Brown Hornet's picture

I'm signed up as well.

I'm liking the idea of the 45+5.

moggio's picture

I might sign up tonight... just got to check the calendar.

Andy Bloot's picture

I've dithered so long
Just went to sign up for the 50 and it's sold out

BM Epic's picture

Shit, i missed out, looks like R/B might be my best option, just signed up for woody worlds, me and the missus are the official careflight team, i think i might get some free panadol if i get some pain, should have worried about Kanangra first!

moggio's picture

Oh well... will definately do the Careflight, but also thinking of doing this one

http://www.capertee-challenge.com/

BM Epic's picture

Mark,
that capertee looks awesome, looks like the valley near Newnes???
Either way looks like fun..60km!

moggio's picture

Yeah I think this would be a good "race". Not really a pacey thing just an enjoy yerself ride with the aura of a race. Not 100% sure where it is located exactly.

I thinky Flynny has done it and said it was fun...

Either way I am pencilling this in on the diary.

BM Epic's picture

Yeah i am pencilling it in as well, i love the look and feel of this, no heroics, just casual!

Flynny's picture
I thinky Flynny has done it and said it was fun..

Haven't done the race myself but a few mates have. 1st year was a bit soft. 2nd year was tough but more so because of the killer wind. last year by all accounts the course was challenging but rewarding. So it seems to be getting better each year

Have done a bit of riding in the area and it has awesome scenery and definitely a great part of the country

J the B's picture

The 50km event is sold out, but apparently the 100km event still has some places left (less than 50), and they've extended the early bird offer to 12th June.

Rob's picture
The Brown Hornet's picture

J the B, it looks like it's just you and me mate flying the flaccid BMORC flag.

BM Epic's picture

I bloody missed out!

Chuck's picture

I missed out too. Smiling

vtr boy's picture

hey guys, I'm new to all this forum talk stuff, but noticed some might be keen for a trial run of the Kanagra course. Have booked in for 100k'er so I'm up for it, given enough warning...planets have to align (I'm sure I'm not the only 1)
Also looked at Caper-tree challenge. Looks great. Would be good camp out for the family by the look of it. Anyone done it before and got some info?
Catch ya's around sometime. Hope to meet some of you guy's. I'm new to mtb, riding for 6 mths and keen for any tips, tracks etc.

Ian_A's picture

I just entered the 50km.
On the home page it says it full and closed, but I emailed them yesterday and they said to go ahead and register for the 50km.
I just went to the register now tab and clicked on the 50km. Maybe they are allowing the remaining 100km places to be filled through 50km.
So jump in! should be fun.

The Brown Hornet's picture

Cmon Bloot and Todd, time to pull your fingers out!

Ian_A's picture

Thats right! time to get the BMORC representation representing!

Ian_A's picture

I'd be happy with that. 50km is a long way to ride without someone like big Mick to keep you going with his chatter.

BM Epic's picture

Todd is now in, oh yeah baby, this is the one i really wanted to do!
BMORC gangsta's!..the Evo is going to love this joint!

Andy Bloot's picture

I'll ring them in the morning

Ian_A's picture

I should have my bike back soon too Todd - brakes have left Melbourne and enroute to BM.

Andy Bloot's picture

A few spots have opened up due to peeps pulling out

Hey Jim - you in
You can bring a spritzer and a sun lamp along if you need to

moggio's picture

So is it $85 or $105 for these spots?

Ian_A's picture

I paid $85.
