Going to be down in Kangaroo Valley this weekend for a wedding so hoping to take the bike and get a ride in before the main event.

Anybody know of any nice tracks down there...preferably something that's not going to do too much damage should I stack! Eye-wink

Cheers

You could take a nice trundle out to Beehive Point? It's only a firetrail out and back but should keep you out of trouble. Head out along Jacks Corner Road, pass McPhails and keep going until you get the lake.

Unless you fancy riding up and down McPhail's Firetrail?

If you had a few hours you could try the whole Meryla Pass loop?

McPhail's is only a short track but a good track. Distance: 9Km. Vertical Climb: 88m. Vertical Drop: 536m. Yep, not a typo - 536m vertical drop. Best if you can get someone to drop you off at the top and then ride down and into town for a beer at the pub.

An additional option if you feel like exploring a bit.

Me and a mate did a bit of an exploratory ride on the Cambewarra range last year. Had to cut it short because we needed to get back to sydney, but it looked to have some potential.

Here's the GPS:

There's also some government maps for this Red Rocks nature reserve which show lots of trails which keep going west from where we turned around.

is fun, but if you're on the heavier side, as I was when I did it last year, you may run out of brakes which was interesting at times.

One of our group really did run out of brakes and was almost a gonna over a 50m drop off (not the kind you roll off!) switchback if one of the group hadn't stuck his arm out to slow his progress.

On a previous occasion, trip I didn't attend, another guy ended up leaving part of his chest impaled on a log just after one of the hair pins.

The last bit before you get to the road is super steep but dead straight and can generate some speed.

Not meant to scare, just to inform, I did enjoy and would happily do it again and yes, don't park at the top and ride up again, unless you're super fit and need the hill climb.

Good to hear there are some trails to explore, Mcphails might be risking it a bit and there's no chance of a drop off/pickup but I'll get the bike out and have an explore.

Cheers
