REF Report and Council's Business Paper on Knapsack is Out
The REF report and the recommendation for the next stage in this process are going to be up at the next Council Meeting on Tuesday 19th July.
Buisiness Paper is here and it is Item 8

Have a read of their recommendations. It all looks pretty positive at this stage.
The REF report itself is here...

Will be looking forward to the community consultation stage and seeing the published REF itself.

Nice.
Is this something that could use some support in council from the members?
Nice work.
It appears that the REF is saying what we have said all along
We are looking into what support is required this Tuesday. I will be there and if we could several other riders for the meeting that would also be good.
An email to the councillors supporting the progress and recommendations would also be good.
I think so much of this is a political issue ,but the community consultation should be free of that aspect and actually address the real impacts and I think all parties involved, including riders can learn a lot from that stage.
Interesting read, I have reservations about the inference that our activity may lead to a potential bushfire hazard??
I read the report, but not the REF. From what I can gather it seems like the consultant has taken a very officous viewpoint - some pretty extreme possibilities for impact. The Council reccomendations to address each concern are very good, and should be no problem implementing on-the-ground, and that is the main thing. Overall this is good for us, because if it can pass a test like this it will set a great precedent.
Thanks heaps to those attending tonight's meeting ... positive vibes on its way.
There is a school of thought that defined trails do give easier ingress to fire bugs.
The counter of that for us was the RFB saying our trail would give them better access to run hoses and conduct back burning when trying to fight the fire.
Considering knapsack already has a maze of existing trail I can't see how adding another while rehabilitating and old on would tip the ballance
