Narrow Neck Plateau

My riding buddy Craig and I decided to ride Narrow Neck this morning.
Having not ridden it before and after hearing a few horror stories, I was interested to see what it was like.
I had in my mind long tough climbs and fast rough downhills with awesome views. The riding didn't quite live up to what I imagined but the views made it very worthwhile.
We easily rode all the hills, with only one really tough one about 2/3 of the way back (actually Craig didn't make this one, but I managed it ok).
The concrete hill to start is a bit tough with no real warm up but offers plenty of traction.
Definately one of the must do rides in the mountains just for the views, and the riding is ok too.
We will have to hit it up early one winter morning to try to catch the phantom falls.

You should take a walk/climb down Taros ladders next time you do it. They are right at the end, there is a trail off to the right.

I started to walk down last time i was there but then changed my mind not far in as I was wearing cleats.

I think that view when you come out of of the trees and have the open vista of a view near the end is worth all the average riding throughout. That always just makes me feel great. Its just nice getting that far out of the way as well.

Still I think it is a pretty good ride (even ignoring the scenery advantages) for a fire trail.

Winter mornings are by far the best time with frozen ground, clouds in the valleys and frost everywhere.. definately worth organising for that time.
