Remedy carbon

Thought this thing deserved its own thread..........
After having more frame problems with my last bike, Trek at Rouse Hill managed to source this 2011 carbon Remedy frame as a warranty replacement (didn't even buy the bike off them originally). Most of my parts bolted straight in, but I needed to buy a front derailleur and BB.
After thinking long and hard, I decided that 36's were the go and forked out for new TALAS FIT RLC 160's.
Sourcing 20mm end caps for the bonty front rim proved to be a challenge, but luckily the mechanic at Trek managed to find someone willing to swap me 20mm for 15mm caps.
The few parts left from the Roscoe are the front wheel, bars, saddle, brakes, shifters and rear derailleur. Everything else has been changed either through warranty or as upgrades.
Weighed in at 13.19kg on the shops scales, which is less than the Roscoe was with 140mm forks.
Absolutely pumped with it!!!!!!!!!!!
Haven't even got it offroad yet - hopefully we have some luck with the weather soon........

That looks great Ian. You've had some bad/good luck with the bike but you couldn't complain with what you have now.

Once you figure out the 36's they will be unreal, absolutely love mine, although i rarely use the talas, it is worth it when you get to bees nest and like climbs, adjustability wise they are awesome, will now be good for light dh!

lookes like I will need 36s to keep up with you guys.hope this frames less problematic than the others.

We're going to struggle even more now to keep up..

Hope it goes real well!

Looks nice. Did you get to flog it around Glenrock today?

Rode Glenrock yesterday, there was a good variety of tracks from tough climbs to techy decents and some fast stuff.
Bike was awesome.

Mate I realise these shots are intended to convey the thread of your post, but after viewing image one, and subsequently moving through the following images I am finding myself in a highly aroused state, to the extent that I have had to go jump on my ergo and spin out 5 K's, please in the future when posting photos of such calibre can you post a warning to allow persons like myself a chance to abstain from viewing a machine of such beauty

Kind regards

Bit of an update........
Thanks to Todd for helping with the fitting and tuning.
New 2x10 drivetrain with shadow + rear mech. I went with 28/40 chainrings and 11/36 cassette which I thought may be a bit tall (26/38 was the other alternative) but it seems fine so far.
Also picked up XT brakes with Ice-Tech rotors.
Managed to destroy another rear hub (making that number 6 I think) so I bit the bullet and got Greg at TWE to build what he said is bulletproof. Chromoly axle and freehub carrier - we'll see how this one goes.............
Rides fantastic.

Looks good Ian, 28 makes more sense to me. I'm interested to know how much chainring swapping you will do now compared with before.
I just bought 2x10 for my son, but for me i cant see the advantage as I never leave my 32 tooth ring unless i need the big ring which is low percent of the time.

Was that you on the old hard tail this morning riding through faulco?

Ian_A's picture

Yeah that was me Stephen, went out for an early spin on the road on the old HT with all the parks shut.
I'm liking the 2x10, can sit in big ring for most stuff and just drop to granny for climbing. Did the bloke email you re 24hr?

stephen's picture

Yeah he emailed me and i back but have not heard anything since. I have his number so will call him tomorrow.
