Just a note that these riders sounds like Spanish…
A couple in Argentina jerseys, don't suppose that's proof of anything though (other than that they are probably NOT French, or British....)
Is the place. Right close to Switzerland. The whole region attracts riders from all over the globe in their summer
This particular area is mega full of large ski resorts (Diablerets, Verbier, Champéry, Les Gets, Morzines, Chamonix…), that means lots of places for riding. So if you're looking for somewhere to go biking in the northern hemisphere, DH XC or Enduro, I reckon this is much better than Whistler! You've got choice, great regional food, and no bears.
ie. I grew up in Geneva.
I was there mid July and currently organising a return trip next year. The place blew me away. @ mrptl would you suggest to base yourself in Geneva then branch out from there to experiance the different places.? I was based in Chamonix but I'm keen to move about a bit next year
No I wouldn't stay in Geneva, it's expensive and boring unless you're there for business and like trow out cash. But its a good place to land; you can do Sydney > Abu Dhabi or Dubai > Geneva direct with Emirates or Etihad.
Lausanne has a better night life if you want to stay in bigger town. But maybe you might prefer to stay in the mountains. In the summer mmm, maybe La Clusaz or Les Gets has a good vibe and isn't to hard to access by car. On the swiss side, Les Diablerets is (or was in my time) the cool resort and you should be able to find some good XC around there and Gstaad (which is an expensive resort).
But you better have a local with you… like me? Take me, and I can be your dedicated local guide and translator
Lausanne, the other side on Lake Geneva right ? The language barrier was difficult, particularly in the Switzerland back country, but that's half the fun. Ummmm you as a local guide who sent a winky face. Are you blonde, blue eyed, fit Swiss female. If so, I've got a big job convincing my fluent French speaking wife not to come in your place. P.S yeah it's way better than Whistler IMO
Houuuu never refer Lake Léman as Lake Geneva other than inside Geneva… they won't appreciate much Lausanne is in the centre of Lac Léman, other side is more Montreux. If you go biking around Gstaad / Diablerets, Lausanne is a good place to stay.
So I will have to let your fluent French speaking wife do the job… all I have is the blonde hair.
If you like Enduro, do you know the Haute Route? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haute_Route
The Haute Route is on the to-do list along with Tour du Mont Blanc.
