Details:

***Cancelled*** - see comments

This is a Cross Country MTB race on a 25km loop in Back Yamma State Forest. Formats for Beginners and Juniors (25km), Average Punters (50km, 2-3hrs) and Masochists (100km, 4-6hrs). The loop will be similar to the former Back Yamma Big Foot first lap. This is a club based event, so compared to the Big Foot, there won't be very much bling.
There are plenty of great camp sites at Back Yamma so feel free to camp the night before.
Toilets will be provided and a BBQ for lunch on Sunday but you should plan to bring all your own stuff.
Prizes will be determined on the day, depending on the number of entries and the categories run on the day.
This will be an MTBA registered race.

Make sure you bring plenty of water. There are no taps.
This area is prone to cat heads (prickles) so go tubeless, put gel in your tubes, carry extra tubes, get heavy duty tubes, risk it. You decide.

Note that this was postponed from 11/9/2016 due to wet weather and mud. 16th October 2016 is the new date.

Message From Al:
-------------
Hi All.

Regretfully a visit to Back Yamma today has shown conditions are not good enough to put the race on next week. The entry to the car park, camping and event area is in poor condition and would see a number of vehicles bogged if we were to go ahead. This also makes it difficult to ensure we can provide good access for emergency services, toilets, barbecues and coffee. The creek crossing is still not great and the track route is compromised by a large amount of surface water near the southern boundary and just north of the event area. Given that the area has had twice the rainful it had last year and record rain in August and September, and many parts are still in flood or flood damaged, this is not a surprising result. But we also wanted to give the event every chance of going ahead.

We will work with MTBA this week to get refunds out to people and we will try to run the event again next year.

Thankyou to all of the people who have given their time to help. This has been a non profit club based effort and a lot of unpaid hours have gone in.

Thanks also to organisations that have supported us with give aways and prizes. We will be in touch. The list includes

- Club sponsors, DG Cycles, Orange Family Dental and Tyre Power

- Event supporter, Parkes Shire Council, Coca Cola, Nestle Purina, MTBA (mountain bikes Australia), Forestry NSW, Bike Corp, and the Beekeepers Inn, Parkes Rotary,

- Sorry if I have left anyone out

Also watch out for other local events including the Orange Interclub, to be held at our Lake Canobalas Tracks when things dry out a bit, and the Ginja Ninja at the legendary Kinross Forrest in November.

Till next time,

Alan Giumelli
