Still Smooth
Rough Downhills
Things are beginning to get tricky now - loose rocks of the line make things very rough. So stay on that smooth(er) section and keep on grinning
Bedford Creek
Crossing Bedford Creek. It is possible to ride this if the water is low enough (or you don't mind chilly mountain water in your shoes!).
Chilly Drop
There was a really noticeable temperature drop here as we passed between the two creek crossings.
Think of this as The Oaks big brother. Longer, steeper, rougher, tougher climb at the end, harder to get to. Up to the reader to decide if these things make for a better ride.

Hanging Rock
Found these pics i took a few years ago of Hanging rock...
Baltzer Lookout
Baltzer Lookout
Baltzer Lookout
At 1,065m Blackheath is the highest village along the great western highway (Bell is the only village with in the BMCC area that is higher). There are several options for rides in the area, this description is for the two out and back firetrail rides named Hanging Rock and Anvil Rock - in the one place here as they are so close and similar.
Cripple Creek
At a Glance
A network of fire trails that spans from Blaxland to Yellow Rock. Great for a short rides. Best for linking the Lower Blue Mountains to create some epic rides.
Faulconbridge Point

Faulconbridge Point View
A pretty gentle out and back (13.4km return from the gate), a good ride for beginners with a great view at the end.

Kanangra Walls
Ah... there's an alright view at the end of this ride (well, depending on how you do it).
Earlier in the day the ranger said he'd rather you didn't ride to this lookout, but getting late as it was only passed a couple of walkers on it. Be sure not to cycle off the cliff!
It was down to 8 degrees celcius at this time (just gone 5pm, mid April) so probably not a good thing to finish up much later!
Morong Creek Fire Trail
Lots of nice fire trail like this. Gently undulating, no big hills.
Hanrahans Creek Crossing
Hanrahans isn't much of a creek, eh?
Loads of fantastic fire trail in the wilderness. Nothing too technical and no particularly steep hills from what I know.
Knapsack Reserve
At a Glance
A variety of tracks with a mix of firetrail and technical single track. Currently a bit of a maze which allows for creating your own loop.
Also includes a legal DH Track.
Lake Woodford
At a Glance
Link Trail between Wooford Creek Trail and Wellesly Trail
This trail was badly weathered, overgrown, covered in foilage and would have been real interesting had we been riding down it. Will have to try this next time.
End of Winbourne Road Trail
Approaching the Dam from Winbourne Road.
Very fast and full of speed humps. Made for some good jumps.
Lake Woodford's surrounds have recently been opened to riders and walkers, meaning we can now access a bunch more firetrail in the mid mountains. Note: There is no legal access to the dam - no swimming!
Linden Ridge
At a Glance
Your Basic Fire Trail dropping 120m in elevation over 7kms with your pinch climbs here and there.
Mount Banks
At a Glance
Easy/fun/short-ish fire trail ride with great views.
Mount Hay
At a Glance
You can only get so close but you want to get closer and touch it as the view is amazing. Unfortunately NO BIKES past the end of Mt Hay Rd. If you want to get closer, bring a chain and lock plus some walking shoes.
Overall A decent ride with not to many steep hills. Trail was relatively smooth and the views are amazing.
Mount York

Bardens Lookout Bikes
Lockyers Sniggle
Not much room for error - as Rob found out later... doh!
Cox's Alternate Junction
Three distinct routes from the Mt York peninsular to Hartley Valley below - two single track and a third fire trail make for a few combinations with one thing in common - the 250 vertical metre drop. This is steep, and on occasion, very tricky stuff.
Narrow Neck

Preview of the next hill
you get to anticipate what's coming and then you look left to see how you need to get there.
How to get there
you don't get your grind without some heart in mouth stuff first.
guttered and steep and a long grind up to come
The reward
if you get all the way to the end and take the walk down, you get to see Warragamba Dam
Might be easy for some, but the steepness and therefore both up and down are a task.

Pack a rain coat - Pine forest near Jenolan Caves Road
Single track through farmland
The Six Foot Track was originally constructed as a bridal way between Katoomba and Jenolan Caves. It is now possible to ride one section of the track, but not it's entirety. Please respect these rules, only ride where permitted and dismount where required. The most popular route appears to be the 28km (one way) section between Megalong Road and Jenolan Caves road.
St Helena

St Helena Ben
Ben - steep descent
A technical single trail that complements the Oaks in the Blue Mountains. This trail is either an out and back, about 8km each way. Or an out leg towards a cliff escarpment with an extremely technical descent that is hike-a-bike only (eg. you have to carry your bike down and out the other side), about 20km in total.

Killer Climb
Forget that 6km grind up from the gate, this 400m climb is the killer!
Oaks Single Trail
Some great single track near the bottom of the Oaks.
St Helena Ben
The main Oaks Firetrail is one of the classic Blue Mountains rides, but there's more in this area than just that.
Winmalee
At a Glance
Grose Mountain Lookout
At the end of Springwood Ridge.
Winmalee Ferns
Bees Nest/Blue Gum Junction
Some nice firetrails and beautify leafy fern lined double track. Add steep hills with tough climbing (and obvious downhill fun that must proceed it).
