Pietermaritzburg World Cup Round 1 Downhill Finals

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The finals of the World Cup round 1 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa has been run and won in what can only be described as a brutal, bizzare and strangely enjoyable track to watch as a spectator, for the simple fact that i didn't have to pedal a 17kg downhill bike on a flat and at times uphill section of track for a full minute!!!!..There were some competitors who got to the bottom and spewed, some got off there bikes and with wobbling legs looked like they had been in a boxing ring and had been knocked out!!..it was that brutal!

Jared Graves is King of Pietermaritzburg!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Australia's very own Jared Graves has taken out the first round of the 4X world cup in South Africa, Pietermaritzburg.
Once again he is showing why he is probably one of the best riders in the world, after taking out the dual slalom and downhill at sea otter in the US and A last week!

apropos of nothing ....riding in Nowra

Well I was around Jervis Bay on the weekend and took the SS down in hope of finding somewhere to ride. Stumbled upon the SCUM website, the South Coast United Mountainbikers Inc. and few of their tracks in the forest. In the middle of the family time I got 3 hrs free and hit up the Coondoo trail.

Riding over easter weekend

Guys

Just wondering if anyone is home over the easter weekend and looking to ride in the mountains.

We discussed possibly doing a ride at 3 single track locations in one day starting further up the mountains and progressing down to each location finishing with a BBQ or something at Glenbrook.

As there are 5 days this weekend I was also thinking of doing one from Glenbrook shops and doing Mount Portal and a few other sections of the Glenbrook National Park that would take around 3 hours.

If anyone is onterested in either post up and we can get organised.

Possible location for single track in the Mountains

The Echo came out today and on the front an article about the Lawson golf course sporting grounds proposal, it's gaining steam and a suggestion that it may suit mountain biking. This might suit WSMTBC for an alternate location for racing. I have not been up to the golf course for a while but from memory it would suit a Blue Gum Lodge track style of layout. Just putting it out there..

Oxford Falls GoPro for you guys :)

Heya All,
Geez, I have to say since moving back to the big smoke, I'm really missing the diversity of XC trails I was getting used to up there.

In the meantime though, I've been out on the big bike 2 or 3 times a week, and scored a GoPro Wide* just over a week ago.

Here's some footage from today. Although I'm missing decent XC riding (Manly Dam does NOT count as a decent trail... Eye-wink), the DH'ing & FR'ing is pretty good down here.

Enjoy!

Looking for interest in GHS/ Grotto night ride!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Any body interested in a Grose Head / Grotto / Bees Nest / Grose Head friday night ride, after going for a couple of rides on this loop, we have found it most enjoyable, you have the technical single track that keeps getting harder( read Fun ), then a nice warming climb to then head down a wicked steep, loose descent that also has a very steep rock drop on it, you end up dropping into the fernery/ rainforest of the grotto that is magical and fun to ride, then a fast scoot along the blue gum forest floor at speed, then to be abruptly be awoken with the bees nest climb( &*^%# ), then after exor

Clean Up Australia Day

Well there are a lot of places to go to in the mountains for a cleanup, but do we want to organise a more BMORC specific one at a location we know to be bad yet frequented more by cyclists rather than walkers.

There isn't one currently in Knapsack Park, we could do that?
