Clean Up Kinross Forest this Saturday afternoon - help needed!
The city of Orange is around 4 hrs from Sydney and 3 hrs from Canberra. Kinross State Forest is situated on the northeast edge of town, a 10 minute drive or 20 minute ride from the Orange town centre.
Meet at the Bulgas Road carpark, Western edge of the forest.
Drive out from Orange on the Ophir Rd, before you reach the rubbish tip, turn right onto Bulgas Rd. Follow this about 2km to the forest (the road turns to gravel).
Note that the 'Directions there' google maps link below may not give the best route/destination. It seems that google maps ignores Bulgas Rd when selecting a route and gives the next closest spot. The 'Meeting point' link should be correct.
Clean up day at Kinross Forest to prepare for the Singletrack Mind race the next weekend.
I know it's a dirty and thankless task, but it'd be great to see as many boots on the ground as possible on Saturday so that we can get the forest (or at least the most visible parts of it) looking like a location you would actually like to ride in! Our tracks at Kinross are awesome and have had so much work put into them over the years, it's sad to see the environment so degraded...
Fairwell to Lidsdale Ride
From Lithgow head on the Western Highway toward Bathurst. After 10-11Km you will head uphill and see thick pine forest to the right. It's dual carriageway here, and there's a right turn across the other lane into Forest Ridge Drive (signposted and a sealed road). About 50m on the left there's a turning where you can park in the shade. There's also an old concrete section of the highway just past there with masses of parking.
Ok as logging has been moved forward 12 months and we need to get out of there by November I thought we'd do one last hoora.
So the plan is to do a lap or two of the big loop in the morning (one forward one reverse would be good)
Bring a packed lunch or duck in to town to grab something.
I'm then going to do a bit of a clean up of the trail (pulling in bunting and signage) then head out for a loop or two on the southern side of the highway.
All welcome

Hassans Wall Lookout
Thomas from the Lithgow environment group is planning a cleanup of Hassans Walls lookout and using our race as a motivator to get people there
"It is six months ago since we had our last action day at Hassans Walls. Since then Tim Johnman and I have replaced the broken gutter of the first hut and I have received some compliments about the work done at Hassans Walls so far. I still have the paints to finish off this hut. I thought we should get it done before the NSW Mountain Bike Championships at Hassans Walls on 11th July.
