Just started a bit of work on our new DH trail. Skinny Mal and the crew have been going gang busters doing all the hard work just went up today to do a bit of the fiddly stuff.

It all starts with a fast naturally cambered section and then swings up into this corner.

This gives us a natural grade reverse to help control water but has the issue of having the possibility of water sheeting across the trail in the braking and turning zone

Based on out control plan the solution is to dig a drainage channel to diver water around the outside of the trail and then straight across the low point. In this instance I'll be using the dirt out of the channel to build up the out side of the corner into a berm. This will help channel but an important and often over looked inclusion is to make sure the back of the berm is protected from soil run off, either with rock armouring or simply covering with leaf litter and encouraging vegetation to grow back.

The channel is then packed with rock. Take your time and pack it in tight. The rocks allow water to run through while preventing erosion. The outlet should have some raised rocks to slow down and disperse water and a catchnet of leaf litter and vegetation to trap any sediment run off,

and finally showing the new drainage pattern
