Morning ride in the upper mountains. Out to hanging rock and back, with side trips to other lookouts if I'm feeling fit.

And I hate dirt bikers!!

I know some dirt bike riders don't fit into this category, but can anyone explain to me why most dirt bikers need to rip the hell out of everything when they ride?

We get a lot of motos out along Ridgewell Rd (goes to hanging rock), and it's bad enough that they wreck the fire trails, but they are also getting around the National Park gate, and riding right up to the lookout. A few weeks ago I noticed that a log obstacle on the final bit of single track leading to the lookout had recently been chopped, and today I find a nice couple of donuts right at the lookout itself!

Late notice, but I'm going for a local ride this weekend, and wanna put out the invitation.

The Ride

This ride takes place in and around Blackheath, and has a bit of everything:
singletrack, firetrail, steep climbs, waterbars, 60km/h blacktop switchbacks, stunning views, devonshire tea, support crew...

The Basics: Start in Blackheath, Hanging Rock (out & back), Megalong Valley Tea Rooms (lunch/brunch), limousine service back to Blackheath.

Duration: 3 to 4 hours, depending on how many scones you eat.

At 1,065m Blackheath is the highest village along the great western highway (Bell is the only village with in the BMCC area that is higher). There are several options for rides in the area, this description is for the two out and back firetrail rides named Hanging Rock and Anvil Rock - in the one place here as they are so close and similar.
