Eastern Blue Mountains Escarpment Master Plan survey
The BMCC has released a proposed Master plan for the eastern Blue Mountains escarpment including Knapsack Gulley and Yellomundee Regional Park as well as Yellow Rock. Please take time to invest in their very short survey and propose more cycling infrastructure including the reopening of the old Glenbrook tunnel.
Trans Blue Mountains Trail - Lower Blue Mountains Zig Zag to Wolgan Valley and Mudgee
The Upper Mountains Trail Beside Rail advocacy was commenced by me in 1998 and I have been committed to ever since. The original group were some firies from Katoomba and some climbers from Blackheath, as well as Kevin from the old bike store in Katoomba. Back then we managed to get it into the council's original bike plan, after collecting 1000 signatures on a petition, and they have managed to get Greenway funding for feasibility studies and engineering survey projects since then. Lis Bastion and Richard Delaney were involved for a short period of time in the mid 2000’s .
Oaks Singletrack Feedback
Feed back can be worth more than Gold.
At today's Rake & Ride, we where handed out slips of paper with an email asking for feedback. This is extremely important!!!
Several staff are very keen to build more Mountain bike trails as they can see the multiple of benefits mountain biking brings but they need 2 things. Convincing the Powers that be and funding. One of the most powerful weapons in achieving both of these is feedback.
Here are some suggestions you may like to talk about.
Did you like the new trail?
- What did and/or didn't you like about the new trail?
Upper Blue Mountains Cycle Trail petition
Dear Friends,
I just started the petition "Build Upper Blue Mountains Cycling Trail Now or Unlock the Gate to existing track" and wanted to ask if you could add your name too.
This campaign means a lot to me and the more support we can get behind it, the better chance we have of succeeding. You can read more and sign the petition here:

Thank you!
Blue Mountains MTB Trails
Hey guys,
I want to plan a MTB trip to the Blue Mountains and i am trying to find some good trails (preferably, mostly a down hill run). I have heard that some DH trails go for hours, but i have not been able to find any. I don't mind if it is not a completely DH trail, but a flowing, long Ride, just not something like a xc trail. Can You please give me the names of some trails and advice on how the trail was, HOW LONG THEY ARE, or any other tips. This is my first MTB trip and i am fairly new to the sport so any advice is appreciated.
Thanks, Dan
damage to wilderness by using sandstone gravel in a watercourse
no point filling with sandstone gravel in a watercourse!

tracks in declared wilderness
If possible I would like advocates and riders to avoid engaging with NPWS concerning riding on tracks in wilderness.
My reasoning is that in the Wilderness Act, provision was made to include "self-reliant" recreation as an objective of declared wilderness. When this was done, the intention was to exclude 4WDs, motorcycles & horses. Canoeing and cycling were not meant to be shut out, in recognition of low impact and compatibility with wilderness values.
Subdivision Winmalee
Todd, JP & all -a new subdivision was announced in the Gazette behind St.Columbas/St Thomas' school on Hawkesbury Road. See BM Gazette http://www.bluemountainsgazette.com.au/story/136....
This my impact on walking/ mtb tracks but also may be a good opportunity for some Bmorc input to have a link put in to fire trail to Grose Head Sth. ??????
Cheers BrianH
Trail Tool Time
On most trail build days the members of BMORC arrive with boot loads of digging implements and weapons of bush regeneration.
I thought it might be an idea to start a thread relating to our tools of choice and ways to maintain them, allowing other trail builders access to a wealth of knowledge and discussion.

I'll get the wheel rolling here.
My latest investment has been the Rider & Bell Rakho.
