Wanted to Buy: Dual Suspension bike in small to medium size, good condition

Looking for a quality second hand bike for my growing eldest son (12 y.o.) , height 160 cm (now) 170 cm (soon)

He's worn out his old Spesh FSR and I'm looking for something that he can use for the next 2 years (he's keen to compete in XC juniors races)

- Suitable for XC rather than AM (i.e. 3 - 5 inch travel)
- considering Epic, Trance, ASR, Stumpy or similar
- must be small or medium frame
- will consider frames / partial builts / components.
- price range : $ 1500 ish for complete built with 2nd hand parts.
- will consider women-specific frames as well.

Contact me via PM or Tel on my profile.

Thx, Hans

(yes, the post is in the Classified section as well - I've put it here to accelerate things due to Xmas coming up fast)

I have my youngster's old medium Otero. I think it's a 2006 year model. The equipment spec pretty ordinary, plus there are some cosmetic issues with paint on the frame, but at $550 it would give you considerable room in the budget for the necessary upgrades to achieve your purposes and get it down to a suitable weight. It already has hydraulic brakes.

Like me, you're not exactly short! Smiling So if your youngster is anything like mine, he'll have a major growth spurt in the next 12-18 months: I'd err on the larger size.

I know this isn't what you've asked for but I thought it might be an option.
