Scotty Doo (why you shouldn't dj your xc bike)
Hey guys,
Just wanted to update everyone about Scotty. He is all good, as far as his head is concerned (you may contest..) vision and hearing come good after a while.
He is still down at Napean Hospital as he will require a bit of surgery to his right elbow. His got a few bits rattling around in there, so the body mechanics gonna throw a few screws in there to hold things together. He should be out Tuesday or Wednesday the latest.
Will let you guys know when I know something more....
Cheers
Andrei
PS. for all those not present at Sundays Knapsack ride (which was totally wicked) we had a bit of a crash by one of the new riders to the group. his name is Scott and he is the Ducati mechanic from Ducati Penrith. He used to be into dirt jumps on BMX when he was a youngen but I got him into DH and XC. We all had a great ride and ended up at the dirt jumps at the back of Lapstone Oval. A few of the guys had a go at the small jump on the right. the Hector on his fully sick Bullit hit up the bigger six pack, which inspired Scott to drop his seat down on his Scott Scale XC race bike and hit the above mentioned six pack. He cam flying in, did the first double beautifully, but on landing he lost grip on the right pedal. He went over the bars clearing the second double and hitting the ground pretty damn hard. Helmet smashed, big bump on his forehead, seeing stars and all.... His bike is OK except for the rear hoop which is not exactly a perfect circle anymore. The funny thing was that he said to me a few days earlier that he is thinking of selling his DH bike and buying a DJ bike 'cause DH is too dangerous...

never good to see a brother hit the ground that hard
That elbow was the worry
looks like he may not be turning the spanners for a little while
We've all been there
And all the injury stories come out after a stack
Hopefully time off bike won't be too long
Well I missed seeing the crash thankfully... I hate seeing those bad ones.
All the best Scott, thankfully the brain part all checked out ok by the doctors... now just the painful and annoying healing of the arm.
Hope your riding again sooner rather than later.
Are those jumps as dangerous as the ones at Mt Sion??
