Re: This ride meeting:
Tuesday Social: Mt York

It was a dark and stormy night, Well Ok it wasn't stormy, more slightly drizzly but it was dark and night....

The day had been soso weatherwise starting out damp and doing its best to dry out. It had been 3 weeks since my last decent ride so I was keen as. Riding home it looked good. Or maybe it was wishful thinking I stepped inside turned back around and outside looked wet...

I scoof down some soup and the phone rings... It was Mr Lights "We still riding?" "Yeah why not."

I pack up the ute and head around to pick him up. I get a message from Rich "You reckon it's too wet?"

We were planning Mt York. I don't mind being wet and I don't mind being cold but I don't like being both. A steady drizzle was falling, light but enough that we'd be wet... The Bottom of Lawsons Long Alley is notorously cold at this time of year...

"Lets do it. If it's too wet we'l do a short loop."

"C U There."

Hehehe. Mr Lights and Rich are easily lead astray,,,,,

We get the the car park at the bottom of Mt Vic. the Drizzle is a little heavier but it's keeping the icy cold at bay.

Up the single track to the bottom of Berghoffers... It may be short but by the time we get the Berghoffers gate I'm unzipping the jacket, breathing hard and can hear my heart beat thudding in my ears.

The further up berghoffers we go the heavier the "drizzle" gets.

At the top we decide to follow the Lockyers/coxes Single trail out to the look out.

OK You don't get the grin inducing weeee of Lockyers nor the awesome single trail leading to teh climb from hell of Lawsons but there is some very nice fast sections along the top single trail as you climb up to the lookout at the end of the mt York peninsular.

Ok by the time we reach the look out a lovely mountain mist, aka thick fog, has started to roll in. We give the step and no doubt slippery and frozen snot, stair of Coxes a miss and retrace out path park along the top.

I'd Never ridden the top Cox walking track back this way before. It's quiet nice.

The single and double trail from the Lockyers turn off to the car park is a blast in either direction, possibly better coming back this way.

From the car aprk we took it a little easy down the top of Berghoffer as we'd notice some bad ruts and erosion spot on the way up. Once past that though it was all out balls to the wall grin. Couldn't see 3m in front of you and it felt like warp speed 6.

All in all a grest night for a slightly damp ride.

Video to come later
