I am going to sell a bike to my mate and wondered if you guys could help me work out what is a fair price for it. I don't want to rip him off or short change myself and since this was my first mountain bike I am a bit too attached to be objective.

with all the top notch gear on it, I bought last year for $1500.00 , maybe $1000.00 might be a start

That's a fair figure. I had $1200 in mind, but it depends on condition, and on the wheels. V-brake rims on disc wheels are a bit of an aesthetic no-go zone for me, but others may mind less. If they're regular disc rims without the brake track, and the rest of the bike is in good working order $1K-$1200 would be the range.

where does it say v brakes this would have to be disc ,juicy fives like mine Hawkeye & what is the frame size ? If you reading this Jonathon sounds nice too me ?

I am reading and it does sound really nice! Could be a good addition. Its definatly got the fork Sticking out tongue

what have you got too lose

It doesn't have the size so it might not even suit.

That could be a problem Smiling

@Smiley: Umm... didn't want to get into this, but if you check the photos the OP has posted, the rims are black on the top (spoke side) and silver on the sides, with the silver section being a flat and ground v-brake friction track. It's fine on v-brake bikes but for me on a disc bike it just strikes me as having been hit by the ugly stick. Erk. Sticking out tongue

But I'm sure it's a nice bike, and others won't mind that. It's just presses my aesthetics buttons the wrong way.

Idea: If you have other wheelsets you could swap them around and stick the ones in the photos on your beater. Problem solved! Smiling

Your right, it does have rims aren't disc specific so they do have the braking surface on the rims. But it is running disc brakes. (I knew there was a reason you were called hawkeye.)

The bike is a medium and If my friend does not want to buy it then I will post it in the classified section soon.

Thanks for the help,

Nigel
