Cyclomaniac
This is my what I beleive to be true about cycling, we are all brothers we that ride the spoked wheel.
Be it on the velodrome, tar, dirt or plywood, we all share a special bond a lust for the rush that comes from being involved in cycling.
In my world of cycling there is no seperation, no division amongst the discipline I call them all bikes and appreciate each and everyone for their uniqueness and individuality, i like the characters, the diversity, ilike the personal touches to the machines and the quirkiness of it all.
I like the feeling of a bent crank or a pedal spindle and how it diasappears about 2 minutes into a ride like it was never there, I like going on a long ride and getting off to pump up a slow leak on the back trye because I don't have a spare tube and couldnt be bothered to fix the puncture, why should the ride end.
I like when dudes are more worried about the lastest trend in cycling and then i roost em on their $4000 bike on an old shitter that I have had for years, i love all these things.
What do you like?

What I like is that no matter where you go, you've got instant mates to ride with
Went to Crescent Head up the north coast for a beach holiday
Ring the bike shop in Kempsey and invite myself along for a ride
Then spend the afternoons riding single track and talking bikes and shit
All my mates in Sydney ride and I still catch up with them every so often
I'll always make time for a lap or two of manly dam when I'm there visiting
Move to the mountains and meet a whole new bunch of great dudes and dudettes
Who of course all ride
But what i especially like is when you feel like you've been riding pretty studly lately
And you might even start feeling a bit cocky and tricky
Then someone like Kingy rides past
Pulling a manual with one hand, and waving with the other
Or leave you to eat dust on a hill climb
i like how riding a mountain bike can bring you back to reality very swiftly
I like that I can get together with a good group of friends and spend to day good company, having a laugh and some friendly competition all whilst getting some healthy exercise. I like that I don’t feel guilty having a beer and big feed when we go bench racing at the pub afterwards.
I like that I can go for a nice casual ride around the river on a spring afternoon with my better half.
I like being able to share quality time with my kids at a BMX track or skate park just mucking around feeling like a kid and forgetting that I’m 40yo and watching the kids have fun whilst participating in a healthy activity.
I also like the solitude of a solo training ride, time to think and reflect or just enjoy the great outdoors. I can just ride for hours without a care in the world. I even like the aches, pains and cramps that come from a hard ride, strangely they make me feel young.
I like going out into the shed and just tinkering with my bikes, whether they need it or not.
I like that some days I even get the opportunity to go to work and get paid to ride.
