Backyamma Bigfoot

Just a quick one to say that I thought the Bigfoot was a fun ride & I will be back to do it again next year. I did the 50k, it was fairly flat & scenic but there was plenty of great single track. There was a girl that got t-boned by a roo about 10k's in who didn't look too well. I bet that there's not too many people that could say that they have been taken out like this while out for ride! [hope she's ok] A great, local community effort. Well done guys!

I didn't see her but heard about it the collision after I finished. Apparently she was choppered out. I've seen comment that it was because the regular ambos were tied up elsewhere rather than the severity of her injuries so hopefully she'll recover quickly.
Those greys were big. The guy in front of me had a near miss with one racing to catch up with the rest of its mob we'd startled. It was great seeing them and really added to the experience - but that was a bit close!
I thought the event was really well run with a great vibe. Would be good to do it again with a bit more training under my belt - maybe the hundred?
Did you ride the Yeti or the 29er?
Can't have been good if she was airlifted out. I ended up taking the Yeti. The 29er would have been a better choice. Trev & myself headed up on Saturday & camped. Geez, it was cold! The 100k could be the go next year. Having the flu for the fortnight leading up didn't help while doing the 50. There was plenty of wildlife. We just missed an echidna on Saturday who decided to cross the highway not far from the site. What bike did you ride? It was perfect 29er hardtail terrain.
Was thinking about the possibilities of a hardtail after Saturday's run, but my lower back was pretty sore by the end of the 50km and if I'd ridden a hardtail I may not have finished.
So that means more work on the lower back and core strength, and a visit to my spinal physio for a tuneup and a review of my program.
