Deputy Mayor Mark Greenhill has taken the moral high ground to provide much needed support to BMORC as we endeavour to gain an official endorsement for a new downhill alignment at Knapsack Reserve.
As residents are acutely aware Mark has a passionate attachment to the Eastern Escarpment and his regard for it's ongoing health and longevity is no more clearly evident than the motion he has raised that will be voted on at this weeks council meeting.
With Soren Mortenson the councils environmental officer heading up the Knapsack project away on leave, Matt Chambers and Frank Garofalow have been coordinating the latest developments including hosting the public meeting consulting residents of the Knapsack project.
With the Deputy Mayor backing the council staff decision to put forward the new alignment as the preferred option as the most sustainable of the three on the table.
This comes as a massive boost to BMORC who feared the worst that we would be steered towards assuming two old walking trails that are poorly formed and stand little or no chance of acheiving sustainability under the auspices of the International Mountain Bike Association trail building guide the recognised bible of sustainable trail construction.
With time short to Tuesday's meeting we look foward to more positive input from our subscribers to empower the council staff and councillors to vote in favour of the motions to be raised.
Exciting times ahead stay tuned!
