Good Morning Councillors,

On behalf of the residents that make up BMORC we would like to extend our thanks for the opportunity to coloborate with yourselves and council staff regarding the downhill mountain bike tracks at Knapsack Reserve.
We have been offered great support from council staff and councillors in the complicated process to gain accreditation for the works, including the areas of a more complex nature specifically the routing of the downhill tracks which enable them to meet the stringent requirements that will make them sustainable.

The effort required to negotiate the sometimes emotive attachment that groups hold on areas of such significance as the Knapsack Reserve are not lost on myself or my constituents and to this end I would like to perpetuate our strong gratitude for those efforts.

As we enter the final stages of the ratification of the Draft Plan of Management for the reserve we dearly hope that your demonstrated and informed position will enable yourself and your fellow councillors to draw the same conclusions as the professional opinion of council staff based on the evidence put forward supporting the routing of the downhill track which is the best example of sustainability.

As residents who have already felt the dissapointment of losing an existing downhill amenity in the area, we have demonstrated our bonafides by using the upmost restraint with respect to observing the closures and will continue to do so now that the motions raised in last nights council meeting have altered the anticipated schedule for the works to commence.

We look forward to a positive outcome and trust that in the event you require further information or wish to engage us in dialogue pertaining to the project we would welcome all correspondence, please direct them to my email and I will be sure to post them on our forum

Best regards

Kingy

Dear Councilors

Just another quick note to say thank you for the support you have so far shown to the proposal to allow mountain biking in Knapsack reserve.
I know a few of you probably still have some reservations about the sustainability of downhill trails.

With a great knowledge base gathered from around the world we now have a far greater appreciation of how to construct trails in a sustainably responsible manner.

My club, Central Tablelands have recently gained approvals for our new Downhill trail from the Sydney Catchment Authority.

Already having the green light from Lithgow City council we still needed to comply with Sydney Catchment and put forward soil and sediment plans that passed their stringent standards.

Of our plans SCA's Dr Bob Banens said "The environmental management approach adopted for this project including particularly the SWMP may provide useful input to the NPWS Discussion Paper into its Cycling Policy Review and Sustainable Mountain Biking Strategy"

I believe for Dr Banens to go so far as to recommend this to the NPWS paper, which until now has excluded downhill, shows just how far we have come in trail design over the last 20 years and highlights our willingness, indeed, our wish to create truly sustainable trails.
