23 Nov BMCC Meeting ... Show up or Lose Knapsack

As you all know the 23rd Nov meeting is a critical one.

Instead of doing the usual email campaign and flooding inboxes with spam, and generally being treated as such. The best way forward (as seen by the 29 Jun 10 meeting) is to show them the numbers.

We formed BMORC as recreational cyclists, to demonstrate that there is SIGNIFICANT demand for LEGITIMATE Trails in the Blue Mountains, and that a few residents in any given street shouldn't be able to shut down tracks that have been well and truly alive for several years if not dozens of years.

We have been sharing alot of positive news of late, however, in the end, the elected officials can only go where the numbers are and frankly we need to show an overwhelming amount of support to combat the expected and obvious negative campaign that those opposed to Mountain Biking in the Blue Mountains will present.

I will be sending out another email shortly to make sure people are aware that the 23rd November Meeting is crucial to our efforts. We've seen and felt what it is like to be beaten, to see that regardless of all the logic and science that backs our efforts ... with pressure, the logical and rational decision making that we would expect can and does get set aside.

So, this is not a time to be complacent and think that all the work has been done. Don't for one second think that this is a done deal, even if we have a PoM established over 3 years ago, which under went and passed community consultation. Council opened the PoM back up to Community Consultation so everything is up for grabs again.

I'll ask you all, the regular readers, and posters, that it is time again, to recall why we setup BMORC, get out there and tell all the riders (REPEATEDLY) that the 23 Nov 2010 meeting is critical and we need to turn up in numbers.

Lets get out there and ride, organise your social rides, and meet new people, hand out the stickers and get the message out that the 23rd isn't an optional thing, Show up or Lose Knapsack. This is what we are now hearing.

Show Up or Lose Knapsack.

Simple !

It's been in my diary for a while now. I can guarantee that I (and Jo) will be there to support.

To everyone else (not the regulars, as I know you'll be there)...

Every single Blue Mountains resident who is on this site should be there. This group was formed after the trails at OBR were shut down. This (the formalisation of a DH track, and tracks in general at Knapsack) is what this group was formed for.

It would be a massive shame to see all the hardwork that has been put in so far go to waste due to lack of numbers. Don't think that "I'll be right" as other people will go - make sure you're there.

As Al said, be there or lose Knapsack.

/my apologies for sounding harsh, but hopefully you'll all be there to help with the cause. I'll be leaving work in Sydney early to make sure I'm there.

Confirm your intention to attend on the calender please,
Our website is a resource not only for BMORC but also for those groups that do not believe Mountain biking at Knapsack is appropriate.
Demonstrating you are attending the meeting allows BMORC, Councillors, Council staff and other interested parties to see that we are going to affect voting and as an organised group with a bonfide interest in the process of assuring mountain biking continues at Knapsack Reserve in all it's forms.
Please subscribe to the ride calander your ability to attend, we need to demonstrate numbers.

Thanks

Nichols Parade Flyer - March 2010

This is the type of information that Nichols Pde Residents used to close Old Bathurst Road.

I'll leave it to you to pass judgement, however, please note this is a public forum, and monitored by all stakeholders ... so I don't what this to degenerate much like the old RB thread.

use PM if needed.

All

On discussions with Staff ... reports will be tabled for the 16Dec10 meeting.

BMORC reps are now moving the calendar item to the 16Dec10 and ask members where possible to book in the 16Dec10 to attend the BMCC meeting.

We understand that this may conflict with Christmas and Holiday plans so fully understand that Family will take priority and we will do our best to make proper representation where possible.

23Nov10 meeting is no longer a priority given report date changes.

The December meeting is now the Approval Meeting.
