Replacing Stan's

I have had my tubeless tyres on for around 6 to 9 months with just a very small top up of sealant before the Fling last year (through the valve). I assumed that it would be completely dried up by now but to my amazement I have just removed the tyre and there is still a large amount of sealant in the tyre along with a very strange little latexy creature.

Do I actually need to replace this if it is still very much the same consistency as when it went in or can I just top it up? I guess the question is, does Stan's lose its ability over time to do what it does or is it just that it dries out and then needs replacing? Seems a waste to chuck it out and then put it back in but if it does go "stale" then I would obviously rather replace than find that out on the singletracks of Canberra on Saturday.

I would just top it up a little and keep going. If it changes colour and/or thins out then drain and replace.

I've been grappling with exactly the same question today. A knowledgable friend told me it has a limited life and to replace it (I think this stuff is about 9 months old as well) but I'd rather not. What's the verdict team?

I actually swap it from tyre to tyre.

You do get some strange creations though. This is one I pulled out of mine. Also, I pulled my tyre off to check before a big event and found wire in there. Obviously the stans worked so good I never even noticed.
