This is actually a motorbike incident, but looks like he was going slow enough so guess our could easily happen to a cyclist too.

That's unreal
That could definitely happen to a MTB'r
I was hoping he was going to pull it out. (for the gore factor, not for the first aid factor)
Good lesson here, have a think what you would do next if that was you and you were out in the middle of the bush? What would you need on you and how would you get help?
Another reason why riding alone isn't always the best idea
It's just a toothpick. I think he needs a dose of HTFU
He is lucky that he has an engine to get him out.
have something too chew on on the way back too the car !
He's lucky it didn't go down his throat or in his eye
I remember coming off at the techy section down by the Hydro Lab at Manly Dam before the council put in those man-trap steps next to the trail.
There were a whole lot of dried-out tree branches stacked there, presumably by volunteers to discourage riders from straying off line. As I was falling through the air I was watching this sharp broken branch that was sticking up and coming up to meet me end-on. Fortunately I had *just* enough control to flinch out of the way and miss it. It was a near miss that could have been a whole lot worse.
