Winter Magic Anyone?

There's a bitter wind blowin' on the mountain ridges today.

Riding home into a 20 knot headwind, wind-chill minus 5, ears just lumps of frozen gristle stuck to the side of my head, a few words sprang to mind but magic wasn't one of them.

Until I got to the Bakehouse on Wentworth, that is. Lots of magic happening in that place. I burnt my mouth in seventeen places wolfing down one of their parcels of joy.

I'm not leaving the house again without my down jacket, I can tell you that. I've been trying to work out how to rig up one of those propeller hats to an electric blanket, but so far no success.

We head up each year with the kids and dress up for Winter Magic but it is just too cold this year!

And I concur with the magic happening at the Bakehouse. I've kept several of their shops going for years.

Man it was cold up there this afternoon - that westerly that blows through any gaps in the buildings nearly cuts you in half although not as cold as it was the first year it was on - it was snowing and I remember trying to get up Waratah street on the ice in a fairly cammy rear wheel drive which was interesting. Yes Ian - interesting would be the right word for it.

One minute it was characters that looked like they were off a Mad Max set, the next there were all these people dressed in tight blue outfits, then Katoomba HS people walked by - teachers and students I'm guessing, then medievil/gothic peeps, then the King Parrot club?
I have no idea what was going on - no theme or order to the thing. Maybe that was the theme? Was interesting anyway, good on them - some dude rode a 12 foot unicycle . The thai food was good too for $10 and it wasn't that cold up there.
