Hey guys, I know this topic comes and goes all the time and some people might be tired of it, but I need some insight. I want to get some kind of lighting system for my bike in order to be able to go to night rides, but since I’ve just bought a new and expensive bike, my treasurer/better half/CFO cut my bike funding to a bare minimum so I got to get something that is really value for money. I was thinking of Ay Up (www.ayup.com.au) as you can put a simple system for $180~200 with 2 3w LEDs. Has anyone used or at least seen one of those up close?

Cheers,

Leo.

PS: No patience and/or skill to build my own as Rob did.

A new switch soon to be available from Ayup that gives the option of running them at a lower output, will allow a 3hr battery to last 4.5hrs and a 6hr battery last 9hrs.
Going by the glowing reports given about the new cree lights the lower output may still be sufficiently bright.
Also buying more batteries than you need is not a good idea as the li-ion batteries degrade over time quite a lot whether used or not, I'm not sure if the li-po degrade the same as li-ion or not, but don't buy extra batteries if you don't need them.
I read this

Has anybody who has the new lights gone for a decent ride with them?
If so how long did the battery last? did the 3hr last 3 hrs on the new bulbs?

I'm waiting for the batteries with the switch before placing my order.

cheers
