How light is too light?
Perusing the internerd and came across some mtb hubs that weigh in at 385g's for the set. This is less than my rear hub alone! Would hubs as light as these stand up to the punishment dished out on a mtb?
I'm not a weight weenie so I have no idea about this kind of stuff. I can't help but think that under my 89kg arse there could be some issues.

MMMM, hard to say, my nukeproof's are 530gm for the pair and are VERY strong, apparently up for downhill use so I'd expect these that you speak of could well be fine for XC and general trail riding.
You could check through crc's hub list to see if other known and reputed hubs are around that weight.
I dunno about those - I mean, they seem nice and light, but I've never heard of that brand on all my years of internerding
A quick search doesn't look too goo for the Rotaz things either - not sealed well, freehub that craps it quickly... One of many threads here (http://www.light-bikes.de/forum/archive/index.ph...).
Every time I look into wheelsets & hubs, I can't help but to keep coming back to Hope ProII's, which have now been upgraded to the Hope ProII Evo - SS Bearings for longer lifespan!
And they're not too heavy, considering that they can stand up to the abuse of DH & FR bikes! 185g for the front - that's for the QR version, while if you go for the 20mm version you get a front hub that weighs 173g (at least, that what mine weighed in at last time I checked). The rear come in at about 280-90ish for the 135mm, so all up your looking at 465 for a QR hub set, or 455 for a thru-axle set!
Considering how easy & cheap they are to service, and how easy they are to convert to pretty much any standard (including the 24mm Maverick!!) they're my go to choice for hubs these days!
I weigh around 80 and split a Huegi 240 rear hub across. Light wheels are for race use only so if that is what you want them for go ahead but take them off for trail riding. I am looking for a second set myself at the moment so am reading up on what is available.
