Yeah, I agree. There is already a couple of hacks out there. Surely Shimano would be working on it.

I was reading an interview with one of the Shimano engineers a while ago and he pretty much 'fessed up that they were on the case

Wow, I can't believe in this day in age that you would predict that, MTB Di2 would be very expensive!
