As we get closer to the time where decisions will need to be made, we thought it was time to get people back on their bikes and understanding what the tracks might actually look like, have a bit of a social with a potential BBQ and a few laps and or shuttles.

Whether you've been in deep with the detail or just new and curious as to what's happening then this gathering is for you

i) XC for those interested:
- we'll "walk you" / ride with you over the proposed loop, outline direction, bits that are slated to be narrowed, reworked, or closed.

ii) DH for those interested,
- as above we'll go over the existing track ... highlight the bad bits and why we are opting for a new alignment, then walk over bits of the proposed new alignment, and outline what will get closed if things are approved.

Depending on numbers, and level of interest ... we could stop for a BBQ ... answer any questions that might pop up and discuss some of the "next steps" ... both in terms of environmental assessments, and lead up to the Council Meeting to either approve or decided something.

The date this will be held on is Sunday 27th November ... depending on numbers.

This thread is to see the level of interest ... and generally allow us to plan it all.

Please indicate whether you'll be shuttling or pedaling.
if shuttling, let me know if you have access to a shuttle rig and crew, if your a non-driver, or a rider with no shuttle, or have a shuttle with room.

I'll set an arbitrary limit of 4 shuttle cars so that we don't impact on local residents, and also have room to move at both drop off an pick up.

You'll need
i) your own Personal Protective Equipment.
ii) either bring your on meat, or chip in to allow us to get supplies (please indicate what you want to do).
iii) petrol money for shuttles.

This is a social event on public lands ... by attending you acknowledge that you ride and attend at your own risk

I am told that a conservation issue with the new DH track has to do with Ironbark.
Not sure if this is valid or not.

Will read and understand prior to our walk on Sunday

update:
parts of the tracks are within Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest and Shale/Sandstone Transition Forest. The former is Critically Endangered Ecological Community and the latter is Endangered Ecological Community, so a ‘seven part test’ under S5A of the EP&A Act has been done to see whether either the CEEC or EEC would be impacted. This was found NOT to be the case. In addition any impact would be offset by closure of other tracks (only partially in the case of the CEEC).

The Knapsack Gully 'REF' was sent to the Commonwealth dept for their scrutiny apparently. I have a copy, presume BMROC does too (i.e. sorry if I am behind the curve a bit)

I'm at the Awaba 8hr on Sunday and I'm guessing a few other might be too. No dramas though, you'll never pick a date to suit everyone.

Apologies, given the volume of rain, the update & BBQ has been cancelled until further notice.

We will attempt again in the New Year, prior to the next BMCC meeting.

Thanks for all the offers of help, particularly from Barnett St residents ... much appreciated
