while i had my rear wheel out today i thought i'd give the tubeless racing ralph a last chance. tried 'hostile monk's trick with the tie down strap around the tyre and the whole thing went up so easily I felt like a fool for mucking around with it for so long before.
so, if you ever have issues with getting a tubeless tyre to pop, forget about compressor, servo etc just get a tie down strap, some soapy water, track pump and you're done.
didn't even have to do the stan's dance. the only other thing that probably worked in my favour was that this time i did it in the sun and the sidewalls were nicely heated up.
cheers

Sounds promising. So are you saying you put a strap around the tire? The whole way round, or just either side of the valve for example?

Don't suppose you took any pictures? Smiling

Edit: Ahhhh... as discussed here: http://nobmob.com/node/32696#comment-103620

Yup all way round and ratchet it so compresses centre of tyre. Tyre should bulge all way round equally both sides - then pump away Smiling release once you got some good pressure, comntinue till tyre seated.
