Hey Guys

Inspired by a youtube clip, I assembled the parts for this and put it together.

Just got back from a test ride and the damn thing works perfectly.

For anyone with a high mount shock or a specialized brain shock, well you wont see much point in this. But for anyone with a low mount shock this thing is great.

It is supprisingly easy to make.

Now that I know it works I will make a few changes in the coming weeks. just to neaten it up a bit.

Is that hooked up to the valve cap?

Jaredp's picture

The cap is replaced by another fitting.

I looked at the body of the shock and what others had done. This has the most material and shape. Its therefore the strongest part of the shock body. Short of using the eyelet mounts. (not practicable)

One guy used a Coolant hose clamp off a car to wrap around the shock body to create the anchor point. I really didnt like that idea. Too easy to deform the outer cannister body.

what type of fitting is it, i think i have all the other bits here including 2 lockout levers

Supprisingly its just a bike pump fitting from a plain old cheapo' bike pump, available from any LBS, Coles, 2 buck shop .... wherever. Even bettter, just get the flexable hose as a replacement part from a Hardware store or the like.

I will eventually replace it with a fitting from an old shock pump as its a better quality Stainless steel bezel as opposed to the cheap and very bendable brass thats on a bike pump. Remember also to buy a barrell adjuster to get th slack out of the cable. And of course a spring

Unfortunately i gave away a leaking shock pump right before chrismass.... Doh!!!!

If enough people want to express an interest on this post I'll be happy to participate in creating an instructional pdf that would be free to download.

I am really bad with technology as such. If there is soemone ineterested in building one. I have SOME of the parts left over I would donate if they would donate there time into making a decent pdf.

Cheers.
