Just got back from a ski trip, and had a chance to get some GoPro footage of something other than riding the bike.

I also experimented with helmet mount v chest.

Just like on the bike, I think the chest mount footage is more dynamic, and is closer to a "you are there" perspective.

Were you using the fully enclosed water housing or the one where the back cover has holes in it?

I was using the full water housing this week during the rainy commutes and found the lense cover kept fogging up. Sad

Yeah I wasn't totally sure whether the open back or the waterproof one would get better results.

Ended up using the open back, figuring that fogging could be an issue with the fully enclosed one. (which you have now confirmed!)

That said, some snow got into the housing via the open back at one point. My mate noticed it when it was on my helmet. It was melting inside the housing and water was around the ports on the camera, which didn't look good. I had to quickly get it out of the housing and dry it out. No apparent damage to the camera though.

There is a Anti-fog cleaner you can pick up at some car accessories stores like auto one. The windscreen of my car didn't fog up for 3 months after application. I'm sure it would work on the water proof casing for the GoPro.

for surfing fogging can also be an issue - GoPro have a kit (anti fog paper) but blotting paper works just as well. Have tried the Rain-X anti fog but on hot days still fogs up a bit.

Maybe you could squeeze into the housing one of those moisture absorbing packets. (Silica gel?)

I used to use these with my underwater camera inside the housing just in case a few drops leaked in.

screw the camera, where were you? That looks terrible, no snow, too many people, however did you cope?

*jealous sigh*

EDIT: Just checked out the Yootoob, Austria nice and still jealous......Smiling

Yeah mate Austria - best (and cheapest) skiing in the world.

This place also had a summer MTB trail map, consisting of something like 50 different trails, from XC to DH and everything in between.

You can get on the lift in the village (1370m) with your bike and whizz right up to 3000m, and basically spend the day descending. Wish we had mountains like this in Oz!
