Im about to purchase parts to build a 29er front wheel but Im uncertain if I should be purchasing 32 or 36 hole components.

Shold be noted Im a big fella.

Im doing it cheap so Im looking at getting

Alex Adventurer Rim $27.94 AUD (Rim Brake compatible)
Shimano XT Disc Hub Front M756 $38.97 AUD

My LBS said they can do the spokes, nipples, Assembly and truing for $80

Should be fine with 32 Tim, my rims are 28 hole and I bash them around a fair bit - only needed one true so far on each wheel.
On a completely unrelated note - what BB did you use on the SS to run the SLX hollowtech 2 cranks? I need to do similar to my square taper BB so I can run hollowtech 2's.

EDIT - I've got an external BB from a set of XT cranks, will this fit?

My best advice is; Go and buy a complete wheel from blackmans... lacing and building disc wheels and rear wheels is tricky!!

Tim are you building a 29er now?
Try Kerry at Phantom Cycles Tahmoor, give him a ring and tell him what you want, he is a top bloke and looks after his customers well.

Im converting my SS to a 69er SS Laughing out loud
I have already picked up a second hand pair of forks.

I had looked at the hope rim but im looking to keep my rim brakes.

@BLZFOZ, the external bottom bracket came with the SLX Hollowtech crankset. Sounds like your XT BB should be compatible.

So Tim, how does it ride?

It looks weird... weird!

I think it needs a big fat tyre on the front. It felt nice to ride, I definitely need to build an SS.

Great so far, the height of the handle bars feels so much more comfortable which was the purpose of the 69er. I didnt get to give it a good test as it started getting dark and I was still feeling a bit shaky from the climb. Ended up walking it down a techy section. Just didnt have the confidence at that moment in time. Normally would have rode it no problems.

Current tyre is a 2.2

Looks good Tim, now to work on those hills, just remember to start with short hills and commit. Good to practice out of the saddle in short bursts, your SS fittness will increase in no time.
