Well we will have more to discuss here so I will try to keep this thread more informative..
Last night we had our first face to face meeting with council staff since gaining approval for the project. We were mainly working out how to proceed with the next steps. We have to deal with meeting a few requirements from the Commonwealth assessment which includes meeting IMBA guidlines and creek crossings and rehabilitation.
For the IMBA guidlines we are investigating suitable possible designers for the new alignment of the DH trail. This way they can be signed off as met by an independant entity. So this is being actively investigated currently.
Creek crossings will be done with existing council expertise as they are essentially the same as walking trails just suitable for both walkers and riders. This will be also a good opportunity to get some experience with working with council and their procedures and methods.
We are also assisting in developing suitable signage.
We are also looking at designing some developments for the top part of the DH track.
So we are optimistic that within a month or so we should be out there actively starting on some work.
Its a big project with a hell of a lot to do and one of our biggest limitations will always be funding. Large numbers of volunteers is a great offset for funding limitations however. Still I feel council is definitely interested in making this happen and sooner rather than later.
So stay posted for more updates.
