Premier Barry O’Farrell has introduced laws to allow hunting in our national parks.

Opening our national parks to armed hunters threatens the safety of bushwalkers, campers and other park users. It also endangers our native flora and fauna and puts the world heritage status of
many national parks at risk.

Say NO to Mr O’Farrell’s laws by taking part in a Blue Mountains community protest bushwalk this Saturday 30th June 2012 at 10am.
Meet at the Blue Mountains National Park entrance, Bruce Road, Glenbrook
Walkers are asked to wear a high visibility orange shirt or vest to protest the dangers of hunting in national parks.
The walk will take approximately one hour.

There are some members of NPWS riding down the Oaks from Woodford to meet the protest at Glenbrook. They will be leaving the trailhead at 8am and have invited BMORC and any mountain bikers to join them.

I don't support Barry's Decision but I find it kind of ironic that the protest walk against shooters is taking place in the Blue Mountains National Park which is heritage listed. Under Barry's agreement shooters will not be allowed to hunt in the Blue Mountains National Park. I would have thought the protest would have more effect if it was located in a park that will have hunters allowed.

Aside from that, good luck and I may see you on the Oaks.

True Tim. I'll see if I can get in contact with whoever organised the protests and see if they can move it to maybe Gundabooka National Park (wherever the hell that is!) or somewhere further afield, closer to where the shooting will be. Then everyone can drive or bus out there.

(Smart arse hat removed now!) I believe that this a pretty good opportunity to show solidarity and protest against an incredibly flawed policy. Put aside the potential for human/bullet interaction, but once hunters start shooting feral animals it will disperse them even further into the parks.

Apparently there is a protest on Sunday at Wahroonga for the benefit of BOF.

C'mon BMORCers, get onto it!
