Pony Express trail builders Initiation.

This berm was filling up with water during rain. The sandy soil drained quickly but it still needed a bit of help

First step was to make sure the inside right was the low point and dig cross drain

Next lay in some ag pipe

Then add a grate and cover with rocks

Now cover it back over making sure the trail tread slopes toward the drainage grate

And the important bit that most people forget about, the exit of the drain needs to be covered with rocks to disperse the water rather than let it channel, and surrounded by a mat of leaf litter to trap sediment

Now you keep the water off the trail tread while preventing sediment to escape into the water ways
