I have just put in a new headset in my bike, it's a integrated one , and also put a new star nut in the forks, but when I have put it back together it' has movement in it ,a lot of movement, any ideas of what I'm doing wrong.......I have taken it out and tried again many times ,but always the same result, any help would be great

you need another spacer under the head stem.

So bearing, dust cover, then spacer then handlebars, ill give it a go

When you do up the screw on the top(that goes into the star washer), everything should come together firmly, then you tighten the headstem bolts. If it doesn't come together firmly you need to add another spacer or cut a bit more of the steerer tube on the forks. Obviously its much easier to add another spacer.

Did you replace the crown race as well ?
Different manufacturer sometimes have different crown race shape

I have just replaced my head set and had trouble with the bearings either too small or to big too fit in the cups that were fitted to my bike from new . I had to fit a complete headset with matching cups.

Check to see if the new headset is the correct one, there are 2 standards at least for integrated either campag style with 45 x 45 bearings or 45 x 35 I think, the second one will give you movement if used in a frame that requires the first one no matter how much you tighten it, also there are slightly different diameters from 41.6 up to 42 mm
