Please resist the urge for a sticky beak.

In regards to illegal access to the site while its closed - I'll try and get a bit more information out to see if we can reassure people a bit with the works we are undertaking. As well as the safety issues, it adds time onto the project works - they may have to redo works once half a dozen bikes have gone through the work site after they've left. As you know - we're working to very tight deadlines, and need all the time we can get. - Project Planning Officer, National Parks & Wildlife Service

The last 2km of the Oaks Single track has been in construction for 2 weeks now and there has been an issue with illegal access. A lot of riders can't help themselves for a sticky beak.

We met with Parks today and they have informed us they will now be enforcing the $300 penalty for anyone found in the construction site unauthorised. They don't want to be wasting there time but believe the fines will be neccersary to get the message across, do not enter the construction area. All entrances are bunted off with closure signs clearly displayed.
There is also clear diversion signs in place to direct riders coming down the single track and directing onto the road.

Parks have stated they have heard all the excuses and will be monitoring the area in peak and off peak times.

Not everyone visits these forums so please help spread the word.

I rode down the Oaks on Sunday around midday and didn't see anyone on the singletrack track after the bunting (from what I could see from the main fireroad). I passed one group stopped at the first fence where the fireroad section starts but they looked to be heading to the main fireroad, as they should.

Heading up this weekend was taking a first timer on the oaks trail... Just want to check...
The start of the single track, from picnic area, is open and only the final technical section is closed?
Is this correct? Thank you.

Yeah, the single track is all open except for the last 2km near the causeway. Diversion signs are in place.
