Im looking for a lightweight cheap sturdy bike carrier and i'm looking at the thule 970 xpress. Just curious if anyone here has one. Im just a bit concerned about hanging my bike on it what with the fact my bike doesn't have a traditional top tube

Also whats the code to embed images from a url?

Cheers.

I've got one. You are right about non-traditional top tubes being a problem. My 14 Fuel EX doesn't fit but it works with a top tube adapter bar.

Otherwise it's a good rack, sturdy and simple.

Thanks fellas, but no good. Only options they really have are for hitch and mines just the towball on a tounge.

I've got one too, and it is great for what it is. It lives in the back of the car permanently and is super fast and easy to fit and hang one bike (Giant Anthem, it hangs from a combo of the top tube near the seatpost and up under the front tube, the attachments can swivel to grab a seat tube or vertical tube, so you might get it to work anyway). It fits 2 fine as well but you do need padding and stuff to stop rubbing (same as every carrier I've every used really) For one bike, if it fits, couldn't be quicker. Got mine at Roof Rack City at Haberfield. I'm sure you could take your bike and try it in the showroom? But um I guess if you could get you bike there you wouldn't need a carrier....

Ive also got the torpedo 7 tray style 4 bike rack, which attaches to a ball, great rack for more than 2 bikes but I always use the 970 if it's just one or 2 bikes.

Yeah... loads of people have this 3 bike rack that fits on a towball:

T7 also have a 4 bike version too, or this if you want something smaller and lighter that will easily fit in the boot:

If you get something that the bike hangs from, rather than sits on (second one above) that you get some decent straps/bungee to tie to the rack to stop it swinging around.

I've travelled thousands of km's with one, with great success. I have a Trek Slash, best way to mount bike is to buy an extra rubber mount from Thule shop, and i mount one side with the bottom tube of bike sitting on one side of mount, then mount the other side with the Evo linkage sitting on the two mounting tubes on the other, bike sits nearly level, works great! Would suit any Trek bike. And for security whilst stopped, i added a 8/10mm small flat steel plate under towball with a 30mm hole in it, so you can bike lock it to the towball tongue.
Didn't want to use combo tube as not to damage dropper post.

Rob!!! You nailed it!!!

Thats exactly what i wanted, is it seriously 10kg's thou? My cars quite bouncy and low so i wanted something that the bikes could bounce on and not get scratched.

Has anyone had an experience with the t7 3 channel ride on rack?

Thanks!!
