Hi all, i was wondering if anyone has taken Shimano bb71/51 apart to replace the bearings, i know it says on the BB that there not to be opened but it would be easier to replace the bearings rather than the whole thing. Is it possible? There's no doubt i could find Ceramic replaceable bearings that would fit cheaper than the whole BB, thanks guys

I had some issues with my bb71 and took it out of the frame. I discovered once you remove the bearings from the plastic shell you will never get them to fit the same. I since tried other bb and have found the enduro bb from diymtb to be a great setup, easy to install, good quality bearings with waterproof seals, I fitted them without any tools, they just slide straight in. The benefit of these are the plastic bearing cup is replaced with alloy and will be serviceable in the future.
Good luck with it.

Thanks Paul B, i was thinking i couldn't go wrong with the hope BB, replaceable bearing, good quality, and not bad of a price.
