After convincing the better half that a road trip to Orange was a good idea I entered the Choccie Foot 7hr as a solo rider. I had a pretty decent training the weeks before the race including riding the Canberra Centenary Trail.

The race started up a nice fire trail hill but I just settled in at the back and cruised up. There was no congestion to speak of and everyone was really good at passing and being passed. Good vibes all round!

The trail was fantastic, quite hilly and some fun jumps and a good selection of A and B lines. The first 3 or 4 hours were great, felt pretty good and was really enjoying the snaking turns and berms.

Had a pretty low patch around the 5 hr mark and my times slowed significantly but I managed to plod along with not too many breaks. Slowly felt a little better but saw my wife and son at the finish and I was pretty tired so pulled up stumps one lap early. All good, I had a blast and a decent hit out.

Real highlight for me was the encouragement from some of the elite riders as they flew past, really cool. No lowlights except it looked like a few people had stacks, hope they are OK.

Well done. That's a great effort being solo.
