Happy Australia Day - what's more Aussie than taking the piss out of yourself or laughing at someone elses stupidity.

I hope you enjoy my dumbarsery.

Good to see someone else has had a comparable amount of stacks to me this past year. I guess your not really pushing if you don't come off once in a while.

I came off at speed a week ago and cracked a rib, riding downhill at Chiltern. Not even sure how it happened particularly bearing in mind I've ridden this trail in excess of 50 times. I don't mind the occasional low speed OTB's through techy stuff, that's just part of learning, but I'm off the bike now for at least another week or two which is seriously frustrating.

let's face it mountain biking is an exciting sport and sometimes the excitement gets a bit much and you need to have a little lie down! Eye-wink

Can relate to doing some of these sometime in our riding days, although its funny to watch back, it can also do some serious damage to self and machine, but in typical Aussie style it brings a smile to your face.

Happy Australia Day To All.

Ha! Someone who kisses trees with their handlebars as much as me! We should start a club Sticking out tongue I've lost so many plugs out of the end of my handlebars over the last 12 months I've given up on foam grips and have gone back to ODI Rogues.

At least you picked a good spot to land for the last one Smiling

Great track choice... Between stacks from lack of concentration to stacks to simply going way to fast that certainly sums up my 2014!

Back on the bike now after a BIG off at speed in November resulting in a broken wrist. Hoping for a few less offs in 2015 Smiling

That head butt of the rock looked a bit full on. What broke off?

One small piece of advice, if you know you're going down and you have the reaction time, make a fist instead of spreading your fingers. Far less likely to break or dislocate your digits. Once experienced, never repeated!

I've never crashed or broken anything..... Eye-wink

Excellent vid and music choice Amarkie, but there goes my theory that you crash less riding with flats. Eye-wink

The Pixies discography is basically a timeline of Frank Black Flash's day out on the bike...Gigantic...Broken Face...I bleed...

Monkey Gone To Heaven being the exception to the rule!

Interestingly there were only two serious injuries out of all that.

1. the slide out at Stromlo (the 2nd one where I say "that's disappointing"). My LEFT hand (out of shot) went through the handlebar breaking my thumb. Didn't hurt that much but it was fairly uncomfortable as the bone kept dislocating while I straightened the bike up Smiling Electrical tape held it in place while I rode down.

2. the 3 stacks in my 1st practice run at the You Yangs AM Gravity Enduro (the three crashes in the full face and it was my visor that broke). I tore my right quad and got a massive cork on my left quad. I suspect from hitting the rocks when I did that twisting OTB.

Theres a bit of a story behind that

That last big OTB was in the lower section of corners as the trail meets the Little Red Riding Huck. January last year - my first crash of 2014 Smiling

I body checked that fern and took a whole lot of it down with me, but that bed of debris was a god send. I was very lucky, that could have been very ugly in so many ways.

I decided to ride XC the rest of that day.

I'm pretty sure there are more crashes in that video than I've ever had, I really envy the fact that you can come off and not injure your self too bad.

All rather harmless except for the fact that I landed on the damn camera. A slight scuff on the housing but damn my ribs hurt for a couple of weeks Smiling ... oh, and I dented the frame on the lovely Ellsworth review bike I was riding. Sad

All my other offs have had no camera rolling... including the one where the bike mysteriously got launched into the bushes. Sticking out tongue

fairy1's picture

Hahaha, it wasn't your fault, it was the long stem.

Couldn't get this to play before, me getting a bit ocker and swearey-

fariy1 - BAAAAHAAA .. its all about the commentary!! That must have hurt you were moving and stopped pretty quick.

Hawkeye - That's heartbreaking. There's one of those for me where Im looking ahead at my line through the rooted climb but forgot about the one immediately in front of me.

Black Flash's picture

Lol.
It's ok, it was a very hot day. It needed to cool down in the bushes. As did your helmet...
Oh wait, fight club rules.... Move along please there's nothing to see... Smiling

fairy1's picture

Yeah amarkie.

It wasn't a huge amount of fun, I got flipped and landed in a rut which squashed my ribs a bit and did something to my shoulder that made bunny hopping a no no for about a month.
I had to drive 600km the day after which was nice, the joys of being silly.
