Wheelset advice

Hey guys,

I have a 2008 Reign X0 with Totems on the front and a Fox RC3 on the rear. It has Minions wrapped around an unknown rim but the rim has "dirtbag DH" stickers on it. It's a downhill-ish bike and I like to ride DH, but there's not a lot of that sort of action around Newcastle so I'm thinking about trading in the VERY heavy wheels/tyres for something a bit lighter to make riding in places like Glenrock a bit easier.

I have another bike, a shitty hardtail which I added a few bits to... two of those bits were a Specialized Captain on the front and Ground Control on the rear. If I transferred these tyres on the Reign it would save a shitload of weight over the Minions..

I'm thinking about getting a second wheelset to mount the Spesh tyres to, so that I can just swap them out depending on what I want to ride on the day...

Can you suggest a reliable, fairly lightweight wheelset that won't break the bank?

Cheers!

As always, it depends on your budget. Stan's Flow EX would probably be a good bet in an aluminium rim or the Light Bicycle carbon rim seem to perform well at a very reasonable price. Maybe have a look at those as a starting point.

Exactly what he said. Like uncannily so.
