Meeting Point:

The city of Orange is around 4 hrs from Sydney and 3 hrs from Canberra. Kinross State Forest is situated on the northeast edge of town, a 10 minute drive or 20 minute ride from the Orange town centre.

-33.269312,149.16427 (Bulgas Road carpark)

The format will be based on the most amount of laps that you can complete in the time period.

This makes it easier to manage the daylight we have and gives everyone the same length of fun and effort.

When the time expires you can finish the lap you're on. This is the same as the 6/8/12/24 hours enduro format.

We will start the race at 6:30pm *SHARP*. This is to ensure we have enough time to finish the race before dark. Please be there by at least 6:15pm to register (earlier if you need a day license (ie. a non-member)).

Points will be added over the summer to find the overall results for the weekly racing summer series. You don't get any points if you don't come!

We'll have open male and female categories as well as juniors.
Juniors of 13-18 years are welcome to participate too.

Weekly racing will be happening throughout summer so it will be worth your while becoming a member so you don't have to pay the $20 day license each week.

Cost is $5 (+$20 for a day license if you aren't an MTBA member).

Please bring your MTBA card.

If you wish to become a member it is easiest for you, us and MTBA if you apply online. See the membership page for details.

  • Register Time: 6:15pm
  • Race Format: 45mins, as many laps as you can
  • Course: The race loop course will be decided closer to the date.
  • Cost: $5 (+$20 non-MTBA members for day license)

In July we are combining with the Orange Triathlon club to put on a 'Dirty Duathlon'. This will combine off road running with off road riding.

Updated details are below. I have a feeling that us mountain bikers will be catching people during the bike leg so take it easy and be nice as you pass. Especially as they will be catching us again on the run Eye-wink

Have a think about what shoes and pedals to use and as you will switch. These tri-athletes are used to swapping shoes quick so we have to try and not be humiliated too much Eye-wink

Duathlon Details
We will hold the following races starting at 10:00am:

. Juniors 400m run 1km bike 400m run
. Mid 1.5km run, 6km bike, 1.5km run
. Long 3km run, 12km bike, 3km run

Darryl Grant Cycles are supporting the event so there will be some
goodies up for grabs. Maybe prizes or maybe random draws. Thanks
Darryl and Rocket. Please remember to support those local businesses
that support us.

Register between 9:00 and 9:45
We have to pay State Forests for use of their facilities and day
licences for those non members who have not joined either club yet so
costs will be:

$5 for members of Orange Tri Club and or CWORBC
$15 for non members. Please remember to join the club (see details
below on how to join)

Check out the gallery for maps of the probable courses pending how the course holds
up in the rain.

Orange MTB - Kinross Club XC Race

Sunday, 17 June, 2012 - 10:00
Ride Database Entry:
Kinross State Forest
Meeting Point:

The city of Orange is around 4 hrs from Sydney and 3 hrs from Canberra. Kinross State Forest is situated on the northeast edge of town, a 10 minute drive or 20 minute ride from the Orange town centre.

Meet at the Bulgas Road carpark, Western edge of the forest. Some events are held at the alternative race hub near the top of the north Shore track.

-33.268405,149.176268 (Alternative Race Hub - Near Top of North Shore Track)

***Cancelled*** - it's too wet. Having just played soccer I can report that the weather is horrible and wet and wet and windy and I think a race tomorrow won't be any fun to organise or ride in. It will also probably rip up the tracks. The forecast does not give any confidence that it will dry out much before tomorrow. If it's looking not too bad then some of us might go out for just a relaxed social ride at the same time (10am). But maybe not too Eye-wink If we do meet at the car park.
**************************

Club XC race. Come and warm up in the forest! The course will be the same as last month.

See here for info about our races.

We have decided on the track for this weekends race. This course will cater well for all levels of riders, from juniors to elite.

The track is 2-3km long. You'll have options for the number of laps to complete.

The start will be at the near the top of the 'North Shore' track. When you arrive at the forest on Bulgas Rd, keep following Bulgas Rd past the 'normal' car park to the top of the hill then turn left. There is room to park along the fire trail there, the start/finish will be about 50m from Bulgas Rd. Note the meeting point link in google maps above.

Description of the provisional track:
- Berm Me Up Scotty in reverse
- Goat Track Extension in reverse (to dead pig dam)
- Bogan's run in reverse (downhill)
- back up the fire road to the start/finish.

We're a fairly casual club, we don't even hand out round prizes, so don't be intimidated by the "race" tag. We all just go out to do our best.

There are different grades but with us this is determined by how many laps you want to do rather than how fast you are. Doing the higher grade with more laps will gain you more series points.

There is a shorter track for juniors and we've had increasing numbers in u13s and u10s
