Orange Winter Series Race 2

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
When:
Sunday, 9 July, 2017 - 13:00
Ride Database Entry:
Kinross State Forest
Meeting Point:

The city of Orange is around 4 hrs from Sydney and 3 hrs from Canberra. Kinross State Forest is situated on the northeast edge of town, a 10 minute drive or 20 minute ride from the Orange town centre.

Meet at the Bulgas Road carpark, Western edge of the forest.

Drive out from Orange on the Ophir Rd, before you reach the rubbish tip, turn right onto Bulgas Rd. Follow this about 2km to the forest (the road turns to gravel).

Note that the 'Directions there' google maps link below may not give the best route/destination. It seems that google maps ignores Bulgas Rd when selecting a route and gives the next closest spot. The 'Meeting point' link should be correct.

Round 2 of the Orange Mountain Bike Club Winter series and we'll be taking on the classic trails of Kinross.

Categories: Male Open, Female Open, Teen (13-16), Junior (under 13).

LOST keys @ Kinross forest

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I've lost the keys to my bike rack and I'm reasonably sure the last time I had them was at the carpark off Bulgas Rd.

I think I've either dropped them there or they've come out my pocket when I stacked it on the North Shore section.

http://youtu.be/zHL1Z56cq94

If anyone comes across them, can you contact me through here.

It's annoying as this is the first time I've used the rack and I'd not separated the spare keys yet and lost the lot. Sad

Thanks, Pete

In June we are combining with the Orange Triathlon club to put on a 'Dirty Duathlon'. This will combine off road running with off road riding.

We tried this last year but got washed out.

I have a feeling that us mountain bikers will be catching people during the bike leg so take it easy and be nice as you pass. Especially as the tri-athletes will be catching us again on the run Eye-wink

Have a think about what shoes and pedals to use and as you will switch. These tri-athletes are used to swapping shoes quick and we have to try and not be humiliated too much Eye-wink

Duathlon Details
We will hold the following races starting at 10:00am:

. Juniors 400m run 1km bike 400m run
. Mid 1.5km run, 6km bike, 1.5km run
. Long 3km run, 12km bike, 3km run

Register between 9:00 and 9:45
We have to pay State Forests for use of their facilities and day
licences for those non members who have not joined either club yet so
costs will be:

$5 for members of Orange Tri Club and or CWORBC
$15 for non members. If you want to join CWORBC see the membership page under 'club info'.

Details of the course closer to the date.

This month our normal monthly race is promoted as part of bike week. So to encourage new people along we're going to have a more relaxed timed ride around a loop at the forest.

There is a loop that is more suitable for more adventurous riders of about 4km (up 'TTT' and down the 'North Shore' track) and a shorter loop of about 1.4 km. There'll be the choice of doing 2 or 3 loops of your chosen track.

The 1.4km track is suitable for juniors and those newer to MTBing.

Cost will be $10 ($5 for MTBA members, the extra $5 is for an MTBA day participation license).
