Have to replace a fork on my Giant Trance X1 2008.
Any suggestions how to go about it? Ordering overseas, perhaps? What should I go for?

$570 Delivered....

Whilst I do support local business's when I can, there is nothing wrong with online purchasing when there is a 50% saving.

Its the fork on the 2010 Trance X1's

Awesome price - take care with axle.

The 2008 has the QR not the 15mm. Thus dont do the online alcohol order. Good for updating front hub though.

I've got a Trance X too. I've often thought a Rock Shox Revelation or Fox Talas would be nice. It would be nice to have an adjustable travel fork on the Trance X.

Also something stiffer than the F120 would be nice.

If you can't get a lefty... Eye-wink ... then defo get a QR15. That DT Dicko points out looks a nice deal but 150mm is probably too much for a Trace X. Something like a U-Turn or Talas is probably a plus if you can stand the extra weight/price.

On ordering from O/S (from wherever you are) make sure you can get the service parts yourself or that your LBS can service whatever you are eyeing up.

that Fox F120 from CRC is actually the 9mm dropout version.

QR15 or 20mm axle will obviously add flex-strength/stiffness but you'll need a new front hub, so a great upgrade path if your looking for a new wheel-set as well!

I put a Talas 36 RC2 plus Hope 2 wheelset on my AM rig last year, and although a KG increase, the confidence increase in my bike is definitely worth it!

There is something about 36mm forks that make you feel invulnerable!

Fox products are simply the best and getting it cheap is a bonus, so get a 15mm hub and get the fork. The extra stiffness of the new generation forks, not to mention the 15mm axle is astonishing.
I also have a 36 RC2 TALAS plugged into my '09 Enduro, nicely complimented with a DHX 5.0 air out back, both 2010 product. If only Specialized Bicycle Corporation understood how good it feels...
